Ever wonder what all the little dots on music paper mean? This workshop is designed to help you read the
universal language of printed music and translate musical notations to the instrument of your choice. Topics
covered: notes, time-values, sharps, key and key signatures, scales, basic and applied harmony and ear training.

SINGER’S WORKSHOP
Beginner’s, late starters and returning singers are welcome to join professional pianist & vocal expert Mel
Dangcil in this warm informative Singer’s Workshop. Learn proper breathing techniques & performing skills.
Mel will also help you develop a stage presence and rapport with your audience. Students are welcome to
bring their own sheet music. Mel Dangcil is a professional music entertainer and performs throughout
Southern California as a musical director. Ages 15+.

GUITAR MADE EASY
You will learn about the guitar itself, tuning and minor maintenance and how to play singlenote
melodies and chords. Bring an acoustic guitar & book: Guitar Method 1, 2nd edition by
Will Schmidt and Greg Koch, ISBN 0-7935-3392. Book can be purchased at Guitar Center Store
in Hollywood.

DRUMS FOR ADULTS & TEENS (Ages 12 and up)
Learn to play Rock, Pop, Funk, and Blues, accomplish these beats even by the first class! Gain effective
practice techniques. Bring your favorite music CD’s; analyze and learn the drum beats of your favorite songs.
Teacher will provide a drum set. Please bring drum sticks and practice pad which can be purchased at

Express your inner Gypsy with this ancient/exciting beautiful dance from Spain including rhythms/hand claps
and body percussion, footwork, beautiful arm turns & more! Learn an entire short flamenco dance from
beginning to end. Bring hard heeled shoes w/strap-dance shoe or boots with heel.

SALSA DANCE
Learn the basics that will make you a “Salsero” or “Salsera”. Merengue and Salsa steps and patterns that you
can use in the clubs! Learn the technique that will make you look good on the floor. If time permits “solo
shines” will be introduced for Salsa. You do not have to bring a partner to join this class. Intermediate class
requires students to already know basics or complete Salsa beginner’s class. No street shoes allowed;
tennis shoes only. No class Jul 6.

DISCO DANCE WORKOUT
Come dance, workout and get in shape to the tunes of disco music from the 70’s & 80’s! Wear workout
clothes, leg warmers, and sweatbands! Get ready to sweat, look and feel healthier, and have fun doing dance
moves for one hour. No experience necessary and all are welcome to join!

HAWAIIAN DANCE | Summer is almost here: Hawaii, beaches, Hula!
Get ready for an exciting and fun-filled experience learning a true Polynesian dance art that has
been passed on from generation to generation. Students will be introduced to the various dances
and culture of the Pacific isles with emphasis on the basics in Hawaiian hula (dance). Students
will interpret songs and perform dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoan, New Zealand, and
Tonga. Hawaiian dance clothing is optional, but always welcome.
