S.A.T & A.C.T. PREPARATION Help your child to get a higher test score! The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and ACT (American <strong>College</strong> Testing) is inevitable for all high school students planning to apply to a 4 year college/university. With careful preparation students will walk through SAT/ACT reasoning and inference practice analogies: grammar, science reasoning critical thinking, & higher mathematic applications. Students will also cover/study the new essaywriting portion of the GED test through practice preparation. In addition, participants will discover valuable test taking strategies/secrets about answering questions. Included will be a practice examination and an assessment. Bring these books to class: 1. Kaplan S.A.T. 2012: Strategies, Practice & Review. 2. McGraw-Hill’s ACT Practice Tests 3 rd edition by Steven W. Dulan May 25, 2010. Students will learn how to apply to colleges and universities, both public & private, acquire and fill out appropriate forms for admission, write a personal statement, find and apply for scholarships and grants, learn about Advanced Placement classes, learn the difference between SAT, ACT and the PSAT, prepare for the college of your choice as early as the seventh grade. Students are required to have internet access at home and a valid email address. If you’re ready to step up to the next level, join this class; you’re in for a load of fun. With Microsoft’s Kodu Game Lab you can let your creative mind explore the possibilities of creating your own game levels, adventures, and lots more – all without knowing a bit of complicated codes. If you can point and click a mouse, then you’re on your way to creating your very own video game. Ages 8-15. Optional: You may bring your Xbox controller to class - controller must be wired, USB type. Limit to only 9 students. Focus will be on the specific problem area’s your child is having with math. This class will help your child improve test skills, increase scores and advance in school. They all studied/practiced Kung Fu. Kung Fu is known as the father of Martial Arts. This is a class in Kung Fu San Soo. Learn Martial Arts Kung Fu fluid movements and counter defense strategies. No experience necessary. Included will be warming-up and stretching exercises, also basic Kung Fu positions to maximize your limits and potentials in the field of martial arts. FRENCH FOR KIDS & TEENS French is a fun language spoken around the world. Students will partake in a wide range of activities from pronunciation of the alphabet, numbers, colors, days, weeks, months to useful conversations that will increase vocabulary and promote a cultural interest. Material fee of $22 payable at time of registration is for cost of book, cd and handouts. Ages 7-16. No experience needed. The class focuses on speaking clearly, stage presence, organizing ideas, minimize speaking anxiety, and confidence building through the creation of memorable speeches. Let your child start sharing their ideas in front of an audience. Take advantage of this great opportunity for your child. Material fee of $5 payable in class. Ages 8+. This class will also concentrate on specific problem area’s students are having with classroom assignments and homework. Students will also learn the newest education writing formats. Homework assignments will be given. Children are welcome to bring their school books and classroom writing questions. Please bring pencil and writing tablet. Students will have the opportunity to sharpen their presentation and reading skills by reading aloud to the class. homework assignments will be given. Activities include manipulatives, games, and puzzles, to promote each child’s understanding of addition, subtraction, patterns and geometry. Appropriate mathematical terms are introduced and explained. Material fee of $3 payable at time of registration. Limited enrollment so register early! Learn to play Rock, Pop, Funk, and Blues, accomplish these beats even by the first class! Learn to read and write drum notations, gain effective practice techniques. Bring your favorite music CD’s to class; analyze and learn the drum beats of your favorite songs. Teacher will provide drum set. Please bring drum sticks and practice pad which can be purchased at Guitar Center or Sam Ash or any major music store. This class has a limited enrollment. Ages12+.
