PROFESSIONAL BAR MANAGEMENT<br />

Security Guard Certification is an 8 hour training<br />

course required by the Dept. of Consumer Affairs<br />

Bureau of Security & Investigative <strong>Services</strong> (BSIS)<br />

HANDLERS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM<br />

Don’t risk having your food business shut<br />

down!!!<br />

Class is held in English, but you may also take<br />

Food Certification examination in Spanish.<br />

Las clases se llevan a cabo en Inglés, pero el<br />

examen está disponible en Español también.<br />

The California Health and Safety Code, L.A. County<br />

Code/Ordinance 97-0071, requires mandatory<br />

Food Handler certification for managers/operators<br />

and/or other responsible parties of all restaurants,<br />

markets, mobile food preparation units,<br />

commissaries and food processing establishments.<br />

One certified food handler is required to be present<br />

during all hours of operation. This ordinance went<br />

into effect January 1999. Now is the time to get<br />

certified to protect your business and profession as<br />

a food service provider. This<br />

class is approved by the<br />

American Culinary<br />

Federation and L.A. County<br />

Health Department. Limit is<br />

18 students. Exam will be<br />

given at this class. Material fee of $80 payable at<br />

time of registration for Serv Safe textbook and<br />

test scantron. If you have failed the test<br />

previously and already have the Serv Safe<br />

textbook, you have the option of only<br />

purchasing the test scantron for $50. Recertification<br />

means your license has expired<br />

and you need to renew, registration fee is $110<br />

and textbook with test scantron is $80. After<br />

you have paid for your book be sure to pick<br />

book up at <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>College</strong> (L.A.C.C.)<br />

in the Administration Building room 112 before<br />

class starts.<br />
