uvodna reČ announcement 

BOSIFEST – HRABRO VEĆ ĆETVRTU GODINU 

BOSI FEST 2013 god. održaće se po četvrti put,u Domu Omladine – Beograd ,u 

junu mesecu i trajaće 3 dana.Ovo će biti četvrta godina kako predstavljamo širok 

izbor filmova kako u takmičarskom tako i u revijalnom delu.Selektor Maja Miloš 

odabrala je 34 filma od kojih će 14 biti prikazani u takmičarskom a 20 u revijalnom 

delu.Filmovi su iz:Amerike,Kanade,Evrope, ,zemalja iz okruženja i cele Srbije. 

Da bi dobili što kvalitetnije filmove neophodna je bila stalna komunikacija sa autorima 

filmova i producentima raznih filmskih Festivala na temu osoba sa invaliditetom 

.Ova komunikacija će se nastaviti i posle festivala jer ćemo raditi postprodukciju 

nagrađenih filmova – prikazivati ih širom Srbije i gostovati na određenim 

Festivalima u Srbiji i Evropi. 

Na svečanoj dodeli nagrada žiri u sastavu:Slobodan Šijan, Srdan Golubović i Darijan 

Mihajlović dodeliće Grand Prih Festivala za najbolji film,nagrade za najbolju režiju i scenario. 

Prateći program Festivala čine: kreativne radionice,prezentacije,okrugli sto sa gostima – autorima ,pres konferencije 

i muzički performansi u toku otvaranja i zatvaranja Festivala. 

Festival pruža dragocen doprinos u uključivanje osoba sa invaliditetom u kreativnu stvarnost našeg društva zbog 

umetničkih i drugih potencijala koje poseduju. 

Pored umetničkih sadr ža ja,produkcija BOSI FESTA želi da prikaže svakodnevna iskustva i lične probleme osoba 

sa invaliditetom,odnos javnog mnjenja,socijalni i ekonomski položaj u kojem se nalaze kao manjinska ili marginalizovana 

grupa,a pre svega da kroz razmenu informacija podstakne na usvajanje i implementaciju primera uspešne 

prakse međunarodne zajednice i institucija u prevazilaženju društvene ekskluzije,ukaže na moguće ciljeve 

smernice i instrumente kojima bi se podstakao dalji razvoj demokratskog društva i svakog pojedinca uz poštovanje 

različitosti kroz individualna prava.

BOSIFEST – BRAVE FOR THE FOURTH TImE 

BOSI FEST 2013 will be held for the 4th time in Dom Omladine Beograd in June and will last three days. This will be 

the 4th year as we present the wide variety of films in both the competitive and the show part. Maja Milos selected 

34 films out of which 14 will be showed in the competitive part, and 20 in the show part. Films are from America, 

Canada, Europe, surrounding countries and the whole Serbia. In order to get the best possible films it was necessary 

to constantly communicate with the film makers and producers of various Film Festivals on persons with disabilities. 

This communication will continue after the festival, because we do post-production of the winning films by showing 

them around Serbia and visit certain festivals in Serbia and Europe. At the award ceremony the jury consisting 

of Slobodan Sijan, Srdan Golubovic and Darijan Mihajlovic will award the Grand Prix Festival for the Best Film, Best 

Director and Screenplay. The Festival will be followed by a program which includes: creative workshops, presentations 

and a round table with guests - authors, press conferences and musical performances during the opening 

and closing of the festival. The Festival provides a valuable contribution to the integration of people with disabilities 

into a creative reality of our society due to the art and other potentials that they possess. In addition to artistic 

contents, the production of BOSI FESTA wants to show the everyday experiences and personal problems of people 

with disabilities, the relationship between the public opinion, social and economic situation in which they are in as 

a minority or marginalized group. Most of all they want to encourage adoption and implementation of examples 

of successful international community and institution in overcoming social exclusion by using the exchange of information. 

They also want to point out to possible goals and instruments that are to be used to encourage further 

development of the democratic society and every individual with the respect of diversity through individual rights.

OčEkUjTE NEOčEkIVANO! 

U svetu u kome se solidarnost i empatija sve više potiskuju 

i gube, filmovi koje ćemo imati prilike da vidimo 

na ovogodišnjem Bosi festivalu nas, pre svega, upućuju 

da razmislimo o tim bazičnim vrednostima humanog 

društva. Videćemo posebne filmove sa posebnim 

ličnostima, koje nisu drugačije zbog svog invaliditeta 

već zbog permanentne borbe i slavljenja života. To ih 

svakako čini posebnim i izrazitim u društvu koje je zapalo 

u apatiju. U takvom društvu često dominira površni 

pogled koji osobe sa invaliditetom isključivo vidi 

kao one koji ne koračaju. Ovi filmovi otkrivaju da oni 

zapravo koračaju i to po prostranstvima koje često većina 

u društvu ne može ni da zamisli. Hrabrost u izrazu, 

temi, postupku, doticanju iracionalnog, otvorenost 

pogleda tamo gde je društvo hendikepirano slepim 

mestima, sve to odlikuje filmove ovogodišnje selekcije. 

Oni će vas potresti, pokrenuti, pogoditi, naterati da se 

zamislite, nasmejati, iznenaditi. Očekujte neočekivano!

Filmovi na BOSIFESTU ne mogu biti loši 

Koncept Gradske opštine Stari grad podržava model socijalno 

odgovorne lokalne zajednice i čine ga projekti i 

konkretnih mera koje za cilj imaju bolji položaj svih socijalno 

ranjivih kategorija.Značaj BOSIFESTA ogleda se pre 

svega u promociji stvaralaštva,kreativnosti,znanja,uspe 

ha i veština koje poseduju osobe sa invaliditetom a sve 

to kroz jedan pitak i razumljiv filmski jezik.Slike govore 

često više od reči i filmski stvaraoci koji su i sami osobe 

sa invaliditetom ili se bave tematikom hnjihovih života 

upravo to imaju na umu kada nam šalju jasnu poruku. 

Ovi filmovi naprosto ne mogu biti loši. Ako filmski jezik, 

kojim nam se autor filma obraća, nije na zavidnom 

nivou tu je junak filma čija će nas priča emotivno dodirnuti 

i naći put do naših srca. 

ExpEcT THE UNExpEcTED 

In a world where solidarity and empathy are more and 

more repressed and lost, the films that we will have the 

opportunity to see at this year’s Bosifest will make us 

think about those basic values of human society. We 

will see films with special personalities which are different 

not because of their disability but because of the 

permanent struggle and celebration of life. It certainly 

makes them special and makes them stand out in a 

society that has fallen into apathy. Such a society often 

sees people with disabilities as those who do not 

walk. These films reveal that these people actually walk 

on the surfaces that most people can’t even imagine. 

This year the selected films consist of courage in the expression, 

topic, process, the touch the irrational, they 

are open-minded where the society is handicapped by 

blind spots. They will shake you, move you, touch you, 

make you wonder, make you laugh, surprise you! Expect 

the unexpected!

Films on BOSIFEST can’t be bad 

The concept of the Municipality of Old Town supports 

the model of socially responcible local community and 

is made of projects and concrete measures that aim at 

improving the position of all socially vulnerable groups. 

The significance of BOSIFEST can be seen primarily in 

the promotion of creativity, knowledge, success and 

skills which persons with disability possess, and it is 

done through a fluent and understandable cinematic 

language. A picture often speaks louder than words, 

and film makers, who are disabled themselves or deal 

with people with disabilities, have exactly that in mind 

when they send us a clear message – these films just 

can’t be bad. If the cinematic language in which the 

author talks to us isn’t at the highest level, there’s the 

hero of the film whose story will touch us and find its 

way into our hearts.

sadržaja. Svako takvo utočište je, ma koliko bilo malo i 

privremeno, uistinu dragoceno. Set predrasuda o osobama 

sa invaliditetom je praktično univerzalan jer nastaje 

kao posledica ukupnog stanja u društvu. BOSIFEST 

je odličan način da se ova tema stavi na dnevni red jer 

ima apsolutno pozitivnu konotaciju i donosi radost 

života i stvaranja.

BOSIFEST is serious international festival in all its aspects 

and it represents a rare opportunity for us to hide from 

attacks of primitive, tabloid-like, show business and vulgar 

content. Any sanctuary of that kind, no matter how 

small or short-lasting is truly precious. Prejudices concerning 

people with disability are practically universal 

because they occur as a consequence of the overall 

society status. BOSIFEST is excellent way to take this 

subject in consideration because it has absolutely positive 

connotation and refers to joy of living and creation.

Each year the festival is visited by more people, both 

from the region and around the world. Each year BO- 

SIFEST progresses and develops into a serious international 

event with many wonderful films that inspire us 

and show us that life has full meaning even when some 

tragic events happen. BOSIFEST a serious film festival 

by the people with disabilities and is the only festival 

of this kind in Southeast Europe. Our aim is, like every 

year, to involve as many volunteers as we can so that 

they will continue, in their future professions, occupations, 

jobs, to contribute to helping the city of Belgrade 

become the same for all.

film accompanies his unusual teacher-student relationship 

with 11 year old pianist prodigy Ariel 

Lanyi, which develops into a deep and unique friendship.

pijanistkinjom, Eriel Lanji, koji se razvija u duboko

najmlađe dete ozbiljno razboli? Agnes je kao beba 

dobila jake epileptične napade. Njena majka i režiserka 

Heidi Sundby počinje da snima svoju ćerku. 

Kada je Agnes prestala sa dečijim čavrljanjem, 

a njena pažnja se okreće ka unutra, pretpostavlja 

se da boluje od autizma. Agnes ne može da govori, 

ne reaguje na verbalni jezik i ne može da uperi 

prstom u ono što želi da pokaže. 

Ali Agnes ima svoj jezik. Ona pokazuje svoju volju, 

bes i radost. Fokusiran na unutrašnji krug porodice, 

film daje osvrt na majčino petogodišnje putovanje 

da dopre do Agnes – komunikacijom na nepoznatom 

terenu.

What happens to a busy artists’ life when the youngest 

child gets seriously ill? Agnes got heavy 

epileptic seizures as a baby. Mother and filmmaker 

Heidi Sundby starts filming her daughter. When 

Agnes’ baby-babbling disappears and her attention 

turns inward, one suspects autism. Agnes can’t 

speak, she doesn’t respond to verbal language and 

she can’t point her finger to show what she wants. 

But Agnes does have a language. She expresses 

her will, anger and joy. Focusing on the inner family 

sphere, the film gives glimpses of mother’s 

five-year voyage to get through to Agnes – a 

communication on unknown terms.

Paralyzed with polio as a child, Brooklin-born Jerome 

Felder reinvented himself first as a blues 

singer, renaming himself Doc Pomus, then 

emerged as a one of the most brilliant songwriters 

of the early rock’n’roll era, writing “Save the last 

dance for me”, “This magic moment”, “A teenager 

in Love”, “Viva Las Vegas”, and dozens of other hits. 

For most of his life Doc was confined to crutches 

and a wheelchair, but he lived more during his 

sixty-five years than others could experience in 

several lifetimes.

Project Social inclusion of children with developmental 

disabilities –Awareness Raising Campaign 

is financed by the European Union, and it involves 

the design and production of five short and five 

longer documentary/educational films. Films promote 

the principle of social inclusion and understanding 

of the rights of the children with developmental 

disabilities through display of positive 

examples from practice (inclusive institutions and 

organizations), personal stories of children and 

parents and the involvement of experts.

The last taboo tells the gripping and heart-warming 

story of six people with various physical disabilities 

and an abled-bodied partner who was in 

a relationship with one of them. These individuals 

share their perspectives on intimacy, relationships 

and what their experiences have taught them 

about themselves. This film asks us to step outside 

of our comfort zones in order to reconsider our 

misconceptions regarding disability, identity, gender, 

attraction, beauty and sexuality.

invaliditetom, koji žive u Maputu, glavnom 

gradu Mozambika. Viktoria prenosi samopouzdanje 

koje je stekla zahvaljujući svom obrazovanju 

na druge žene sa invaliditetom kroz organizovanje 

modnih revija; Mariana koristi svoju društvenu 

energiju kako bi stvorila korisna prijateljstva i pomogla 

u prevazilaženju arhitektonskih barijera u 

urbanim sredinama a Vasko posluje, radi kao obućar 

u neformalnom sektoru. Kroz njihove svakodnevne 

fizičke i emotivne izazove, ovaj film otvara 

univerzalna pitanja o tome kako pronaći svoje 

mesto u društvu.

Dve igračke sa invaliditetom beže iz fabrike i nađu 

se izgubljene i same u urbanom svetu, punom 

ogromnih ljudi. Za njih je to sve novo, čudno 

i pomalo zastrašujuće. Ali one se igraju, istražuju 

i posmatraju svakodnevnicu iz svoje, jedinstvene, 

perspektive. Neobična kombinacija animacije i fotografije, 

kao i snimanje na otvorenom, na ulicama 

Belfasta daju ovom filmu jedinstven i upečatljiv 

vizuelni doživljaj. 

BodY and soul 

Victoria, Mariana and Vasco are three young Mozambicans 

with physical disabilities, living in the 

townships of Maputo, Mozambique’s capital city. 

Victoria transmits the self-esteem she received 

from her education to other physically disabled 

women by organizing a fashion show. Mariana 

uses her social energy to create helpful friendships 

and overcome urban architectonical barriers and 

Vasco does business, repairing shoes in the informal 

sector. Through their daily physical and emotional 

challenges, the film raises universal questions 

about how to find one’s place in society.

Two disabled squeaky toys escape from the factory 

and find themselves lost and alone in an urban 

world full of over-sized humans. It’s new, strange 

and little daunting. But they explore, play and reinterpret 

everyday objects through their unique 

perspective. Macropolis was shot outdoors, on 

the streets of Belfast, using an unusual mix of 

stop-motion animation and time-lapse photography, 

it’s a mini road movie with a striking visual 

appearance.

Na BOSIFESTU se prikazuju filmovi koje su stvarali osobe 

sa invaliditetom ili su oni glavni akteri u njima. Bilo bi 

dobro da svako pogleda barem jedan film na Festivalu 

i uveri se da je u životu najbitnija volja, a ti ljudi je imaju. 

U najnovijim istraživanjima je utvrđeno da diskriminacija 

prema ovoj grupi mladih još uvek postoji, iako je sada 

manja.Ovaj festival je upravo način da se ta razlika 

smanji i da neko ko do sada nije bio u prilici da dođe u 

dodir sa njima, sazna kako oni razmišljaju, šta su, posle 

svega, njihove želje i šta ih motiviše.

Neki filmovi koje smo videli na BOSIFESTU 2011. godine 

spadaju u red najboljih filmova koje sam pogledao te 

godine. Mislim da produkcija iz godine u godinu postaje 

sve kvalitetnija. Bosifest nije festival ZA osobe sa 

invaliditetom, to je festival OD osoba sa invaliditetom 

ZA sve ljubitelje filma, koji će svim posetiocima prirediti 

posebne trenutke. Beograd, kao grad koji želi da bude 

kulturna prestonica Evrope, treba da ima baš ovakav 

festival. Mislim da bi bez njega bio kulturna provincija i 

kao takav BOSIFEST samo služi na čast Beogradu i Srbiji.

will is the most important thing in life 

Films at BOSIFEST are created by people with disabilities 

or they are the main actors in them. Everyone should 

see at least one of the upcoming films and learn that 

will is the most important thing in life. The latest research 

shows that discrimination against this group of 

young people is still here, but to a lesser degree than 

before. This festival is the way to reduce this gap so that 

someone who did not have a chance to get to know 

them, could learn about the way they think, who they 

are, and, after all, what are their desires, dreams and 

what motivates them.

Some of the films we saw on BOSIFEST 2011 were the 

best films I had seen that year. I think that organization 

of BOSIFEST is getting better every year. Bosifest is not 

only a festival FOR people with disabilities, it is a festival 

BY people with disabilities, FOR ALL fans of film and 

there will be special moments for all visitors. As a city 

that tends to become the cultural capital of Europe, Belgrade 

has to have this kind of festival. Without BOSIFEST 

Belgrade would be a cultural province, and that’s why 

Belgrade and Serbia should be proud of Bosifest.

sistem znakova, učini sebe razumljivom drugima. 

Ona uči i piše priče. Film predstavlja emotivni 

portret jedne izvanredne osobe, kao i uvid u 

svet, koji je inače zatvoren za okolinu.

University in Paris who has spinal muscular 

atrophy and wants to practice law in the U.S. 

because of its superior accessibility. Francois is 

a 33-year-old journalist with cerebral palsy who 

has a radio broadcasts about handicapped topics 

and advocates for disability rights in his native-city 

of Brussels.

for something terrible might happen again. 

Hesitant he tells his story to a stranger and finds 

that she too hides from her past. This is not just 

another story told by actors. Characters in this film 

are played by real people, with no acting experience, 

just the urge to tell their story. The story of being 

confined to a wheelchair. This film conceals their 

handicap up until the end of story. In the last shot 

the camera reveals the truth and transforms the 

genre of the film into a documentary. The actors 

give testimonies about how people on wheelchairs 

are perceived by society and therefore transforming 

the meaning of the entire narrative.

Set in the aftermath of the Milan Conference, 

which promoted oralism over Sign Language, 

Confession is an historical drama set during the 

Victorian era depicting the culture battle between 

oralism and signing in the Deaf community. Featuring 

the historical figures of Alexander Graham 

Bell and Reverend Francis Maginn as they battle 

for the future of deaf culture. The film depicts the 

true consequences of the Milan Conference held 

10 years previously.

je iz Indije kao beba, a ubrzo po dolasku u 

SAD ostala je paralizovana. Uprkos obeshrabrujućim 

preprekama – nastavnici su joj govorili da 

neće moći da ide na studije i morala je da tuži 

svoj školski okrug – Anjali danas ima diplomu 

doktorskih studija i svetska je rekorderka u trci u 

kolicima na 200 metara. I kaže, kad bi mogla da 

krene ispočetka, ponovo bi odabrala da ima invaliditet. 

Topla i duboko inspirišuća priča filma prati 

istoriju sporta za osobe sa invaliditetom kroz lično 

putovanje Anjali, njenog mentora Džina Driskola 

(osmostrukog pobednika Bostonskog maratona), 

Džinovog mentora Tima Nugenta, koji 

se borio za prava vojnih invalida iz Drugog svetskog 

rata, kao i Anjalijinih tinejdž pulena, od kojih 

svako hrabro utabava stazu za generacije koje 

dolaze posle njih.

and the people who organize BOSIFEST deserve every 

support, and we are to be proud of their work. 

Every event of this kind is important for Belgrade and

Bosifest je važno kulturno uporište za region 

Bosifest je važan program ne samo za kulturnu ponudu 

našeg grada, već je i značajno kulturno uporište za 

region, kada je reč o manifestacijama koje se bave promocijom 

jednakosti i rušenjem predrasuda vezanim 

za osobe sa invaliditetom. Jako je važna činjenica da 

Bosifest šalje poruku kako je integracija ljudi sa invaliditetom 

neophodna u svakom društvu, ali i moguća, 

te da javnost upoznaje sa njihovim potrebama, pravima 

i položajem.

Beograd ima mnogo kulturnih manifestacija kojima

se postepeno menja odnos prema osobama sa invaliditetom.

ljude iz populacije kojom se ovaj festival bavi BOSIFEST 

je mnogo više od filmskog festivala, za njih je to mesto 

okupljanja i mesto na kome se promoviše jednakost, 

ravnopravnost i bolji odnos društva prema osobama

It is impossible to talk about multiculturalism and the 

impact that art should play in society and that does 

not take into account the availability of programs for all 

citizens. Bosifest is important program not only for the 

cultural life of our city, but also an important cultural 

foundation for the region, in terms of events involved 

in promoting equality and breaking down prejudices 

regarding people with disabilities. It is very important 

that Bosifest sends a message that integration of people 

with disabilities is necessary in every society, but also 

possible, and to introduce public with their needs, 

rights and status.
