struck in the face, rammed and dropped with a forklift, and dragged by a chain. One<br />
animal was sprayed with a high-pressure hose in an attempt to get her to her feet while<br />
an employee shouted, “Up or die.” 236 Following exposure of the investigation the FSIS<br />
took several actions including suspending inspection at the plant. 237 The San Bernardino<br />
District Attorney filed state animal cruelty charges against two Hallmark employees<br />
terminated by the plant for their role in the incidents. One was charged with five felonies<br />
and three misdemeanors and the other with three misdemeanors. 238<br />
