seconds while I observed him. There were several plant employees present who observed<br />
the actions of the bull but took no corrective actions. I judged the bull to still be alive and<br />
conscious at this time.<br />
G P Monroe Provisions (Grayson, Ga.) a<br />
1. Plant was issued an NR on February 8, 2005 for insufficient stunning of hogs.<br />
2. Plant was issued an NR on June 6, 2005 for insufficient stunning of hogs, as described<br />
in the following incident:<br />
While performing post-mortem slaughter inspection duties at approximately 1000 hrs,<br />
[inspection personnel] observed plant personnel electrically stunning swine and allowing<br />
an extended period of time to pass before sticking was accomplished. Subsequently,<br />
several hogs regained consciousness after being stuck. Additionally, he saw one animal<br />
being lowered into the scald vat while still obviously conscious; the animal was still<br />
kicking.<br />
3. Inspection at the plant was suspended on June 8, 2005 for another incident of<br />
insufficient stunning of hogs similar to the above.<br />
Huse Processing (Malone, Texas)<br />
1. Plant was issued an NR on March 13, 2003 for failure to provide water to animals<br />
in pens.<br />
2. Plant was issued an NOIE on November 30, 2003 for three NRs written between<br />
October 24, 2003 and October 30, 2003 for insufficient stunning and a conscious animal<br />
on the rail.<br />
3. Inspection at the plant was suspended on November 25, 2003 for improper stunning of<br />
a cow stuck in a drain hole in a back alleyway.<br />
4. Plant was issued an NR on December 1, 2003 for failure to repair a truck ramp,<br />
originally identified as in need of repair on November 22, 2003.<br />
Kolob Packing (burley, Idaho) a<br />
1. Plant was issued an NR on January 2, 2003 for unsanitary conditions and inhumane<br />
treatment of disabled, nonambulatory animals.<br />
2. Plant was issued another NR on October 14, 2003 for inhumane handling of<br />
nonambulatory animals, as described below:<br />
At 0930 hrs, plant personnel asked me to perform antemortem inspection on 4 downer<br />
dairy cows located on the bed of a truck parked adjacent to the slaughter floor. Six dairy<br />
cows were dead and 4 cows were still alive and were tightly squeezed between the dead<br />
