Manageability
In order to keep the storage subsystem running smoothly and hassle-free, the Altos
RS710 comes fully equipped with 2 manageability software packages:
• Advanced System Manager (ASM) Pro
This software ensures that servers and storage systems are fully monitored at all
times. ASM Pro alerts MIS when the system is down, enabling administrators to
take action to prevent system failure and resulting damage.
ASM Pro also provides superior task-intensive capability for asset, security, performance,
remote, configuration and security management, as well as multi-platform
support and Integrated Remote Diagnostic Manager.
And, in the event of a system crash, the emergency BIOS management takes
control and automatically pages a designated MIS agent or activates Wait/Smart
reboot modes - depending on the administrator’s preference.
• Acer Rack Manager
This software helps users to configure their servers and storage systems together,
for use with the Acer Altos rack solution. It can simulate the arrangement of
components in the rack and provide detailed information concerning total
weight, height, heat levels and electrical current. An auto-arrange feature that
automatically configures the best arrangement of components is also included.
Storage Convenience
The Altos RS710 is a flexible system, hence it presents no problem at all when
planning the office layout for installation. It is available as a stand-alone wheeled
unit or as a rack-mounted unit that can be placed in a vertical arrangement
along with other servers and storage products
Cluster Up – the Altos RS710 can be used in conjunction with servers as a
clustering solution, providing increased availability for maximum uptime.
By sharing the load between all the units in a cluster, the system will continue
to work even in the event of a hardware failure.
