2. Nutrunner controllers, Tensor DS/DL Instead of a torque transducer, Tensor DS uses DigiTork, the digital torque controller developed by Atlas Copco. Unlike conventionally-controlled tools, the micro-processor in the DS drive unit takes motor speed and temperature into account, as well as the current strength and voltage that supply the motor. The ToolsTalk DS software developed by Atlas Copco gives you access to all DS system programming, tightening strategies and accessory options (device bus, I/Os etc.). A Tensor DS or Tensor DL system comprises the following components: Tensor DL: DL Controller DL tool (ETV DL, ETD DL, ETP DL) Tool cable Programming software and accessories (optional) Tensor DS: DS Controller DS tool (ETV DS, ETD DL, ETP DL) Tool cable Programming software and accessories (optional) The three Tensor DS motor sizes (DS4, DS7 and DS9) and one DL motor size can handle torques of 1–4000 Nm. This catalog contains descriptions of tools up to 100 Nm in the angle, pistol grip and straight designs (DS4 and DS7). There are three different drive unit designs available for DS: DS Box, BASIC and ADVANCED. For the DL Controller, the BASIC and ADVANCED versions. 2.1 DS Box Control 1-channel controller with powerpack in sturdy housing for controlling EC nutrunners in the Tensor DS range. It determines OK/NOK following the tightening operation. Programming is carried out on the device and/or via PC and ToolsTalk DS. This model has one parameter set and is able to count OK joints. After tightening, the OK/NOK signal is emitted via one relay, the overall OK via another. 2.2 BASIC Controller 1-channel controller with powerpack in sturdy housing for controlling EC nutrunners in the Tensor DS range. It determines OK/NOK following the tightening operation. Programming is carried out on the device and/or via PC and ToolsTalk DS. This model has one parameter set and is able to count OK joints. After tightening, the OK/NOK signal is emitted via one relay, the overall OK via another. Integrated keypad and display in the front panel show the results. 2.3 ADVANCED Controller 1-channel controller with powerpack in sturdy housing for controlling EC nutrunners in the Tensor DS range. It determines OK/NOK following the tightening operation. Programming is carried out on the device and/or via PC and ToolsTalk DS. This model has 8 freely programmable parameter sets, 4 inputs and 4 outputs for process communication and a 24 V power supply. With I/O bus for accessories such as socket magazine and RE alarm (chapter 8.1) and functions such as integrated line control and group counting. 5
