Tools and innovations for jewellers and watchmakers
BASELWORLD is an important
contact point for watchmakers
and goldsmiths where they can
add to their stock of tools and
look for new products to make
their everyday work easier. Hall 3
contains a wide range of product
innovations.
Goldsmiths require a number of
different hand tools for their
work, depending on the clamping
range in question. Bijoutil
has co-developed a product
which means this range of tools is
no longer necessary: the new precision
hand tool from the Swissmade
label Hi-Tronic can be used
for all clamping ranges from 0.5
to 3 mm. No tiresome changing
of collet chucks or purchase
and storage of sets is required:
ground down collets are a thing
of the past. The handpieces have
been registered for patent and
are available with a quick-snap
coupling or screw coupling for
micro-motors and for suspension
drilling motors.
Veyret is celebrating its 170th
anniversary this year and is presenting
the Diprofil tool set.
Various individually shapeable
diamond or ceramic tips can be
added to the hand tool. Uneven
areas of a casted jewellery item
can be eradicated with minimal
automatic movement to and fro.

and designer Alexandra Martini
has assembled a collection of photographs
of timepieces over the
last 20 years. These images have
now been, in the true sense of
the word, chronologically concentrated
in book format. The photos

Ready for testing
New measuring devices from Witschi available
In 2011, Swiss watch testing expert
Witschi Electronic presented the
prototypes for a completely new
product range. This year, the
products are ready for production
and are being exhibited in large
quantities at the company’s stand.
According to chief marketing and
sales officer Martin Schürch, they
wanted to bring higher quality
products to the lower cost category.
“We are appealing to watchmakers
and service shops as well
as private watch collectors who
want to test the functions of their
items,” he says.
The devices are easy to operate
and do not require any special
set-up. Despite this, the quality
meets the high Witschi standards,
says Schürch. All of the
components were sourced from
Switzerland and the majority
were also produced here. The
sensor used in the Chronoproof
than 40 countries on all continents,
showing familiar and
strange locations, in everyday
and unusual situations. The
book creates connections with
their own dynamics between
continents and cultures, inviting
to a journey through time
and space. It is a multilayered
volume that one can return to
again and again, perusing the
timepieces and lingering at the
locations.

says Schürch.
Water-proofing can be tested
under everyday conditions. The
integrated compressor is a brand
new detail compared to the prototypes
of the Chronoproof presented
in 2011. The devices cost
between 2,970 CHF and 3,250
CHF depending on whether they
are used with or without pressure.
The second product now ready
for production is the Chronocube
which enables the testing of
mechanical watches. This device
is also easy to operate and the
design is modern with two colour
variations available.
When it comes to marketing
these measuring devices, Witschi
is also pursuing new channels.
The range will be offered for sale
in the company’s own online
