Private security personnel at BASELWORLD 2013

Information for exhibitors
Under the terms of the statutory provisions applicable within the Canton of Basel-Stadt, only
companies in possession of a licence issued by the cantonal Police Department are
permitted to provide security services. No licence is required if security services are carried
out by an exhibitor's own employees by way of self-protection.
To ensure that you can benefit from the greatest possible security during BASELWORLD
2013, the Cantonal Police Department requires details of the security companies that will be
operating at the show and would ask you to fill out and return the enclosed notification form.
Firearms licences:
Permits are required in order to import firearms into Switzerland and to carry firearms within
the country. Infringements will lead to penalties and to the confiscation of the firearms.
Importing:
Under the terms of Article 25 of the Swiss Firearms Act, an import permit and a European
Firearms Pass are required before you can import firearms into Switzerland.
An application for the import permit must be submitted to the appropriate authorities in the
canton of entry (cantonal police), showing the European Firearms Pass (from the country of
origin).

Carrying:
Under the terms of Article 27 of the Swiss Firearms Act, a permit for carrying firearms is
required before you can carry a weapon. An application for the permit to carry firearms must
similarly be submitted to the appropriate authorities in the canton of entry (cantonal police),
together with the permit to carry firearms issued by the country of origin. Please note that a
theoretical and practical examination must be taken for this.
