A perfect sharpening package<br />
ANCA’s GX7 CNC tool and cutter grinder is an<br />
entry-level sharpening machine. It offers both<br />
flexibility and speed to tackle a wide range of<br />
different high precision cutting and drilling tools in<br />
one set-up. It is equally productive on single tool<br />
jobs as well as on a batch of tools of different types<br />
and geometry.<br />
The GX7 is purposely designed and developed to<br />
meet the needs of the tool sharpening industry,<br />

The ANCA ToolRoom ® software suite enables quick<br />
and easy set-up for tools such as drills, end mills,<br />
burrs, profile tools and other special tools.<br />
The standard probing system allows the machine<br />
to accurately locate the features of the tool to be<br />
sharpened. The integration between the probe<br />
and software makes accurate and precise tool<br />
sharpening possible.<br />
Flexibility and speed<br />
The GX7 is small and compact yet has a large<br />
working envelope making it suitable for a vast<br />
array of tool types, geometries and shapes.<br />
The machine has been designed with the operator<br />
in mind offering high level ergonomics for optimal<br />
operator access and comfort.<br />
The single direct drive bi-directional spindle - with<br />
dual wheel packs at either end of the spindle -<br />
enables the possibility of using up to eight wheels<br />
in one set-up. The design of the spindle gives<br />
complete unrestricted access to the work piece.<br />

Meeting the demand<br />
The industry has high demands with regard<br />
to accuracy, machine reliability and efficiency.<br />
ANCA GX7 meets these expectations and<br />
sets new standards for a CNC tool sharpening<br />
machine.<br />
The GX7 has been designed using the latest<br />
Unigraphics NX solid modelling software. The<br />
mechanical design was optimized using the<br />
latest FEA software tools which means the<br />
machine is extremely rigid and strong.<br />
Designed for the operator<br />
The GX7 has been designed with the operator<br />
in mind. Access to wheels, coolant pipes and<br />
headstock work holding is an effortless reach<br />
from the machine operator access door.<br />
With the addition of easy to change coolant<br />
manifolds which can be set up to suit each<br />
wheel package outside the machine, the work<br />
preparation is reduced to a minimum.
Polymer concrete base<br />
To fully utilize the rigid design of the machine,<br />
it is important to start with a strong foundation.<br />
The GX7 is built on a polymer concrete base,<br />
which provides better vibrations dampening<br />
and significantly contributes to the machine’s<br />
robustness and strength.<br />
Direct-drive multi<br />
directional spindle<br />
The wheel spindle is based on a direct-drive<br />
motor design capable of 9000 rpm. With a<br />
constant power of 4.2 kW (5.6 hp) and peak<br />
power of 9.5 kW (12.7 hp), it offers more<br />
than enough power for any sharpening task.<br />
There are no belts, pulleys or gears, thereby<br />
eliminating the key source of vibration usually<br />
attributed to belt driven spindles. Direct-drive<br />
significantly contributes to the superior surface<br />
finish on the ground tool and guarantees higher<br />
machine reliability.<br />
All linear and rotary machine axes on the GX7<br />
also use direct-drive technology giving greater<br />
positional accuracy.
Options<br />
Machine-enhancing options<br />
A variety of options can further enhance the machine’s<br />
flexibility. These include a range of pneumatic or<br />
hydraulic work piece clamping systems, popup steady,<br />
iView tool measuring system and automatic tool loader<br />
options.<br />
iView is a precise tool measurement system developed<br />
by ANCA. It can be quickly set up inside the machine to<br />
provide measurement <strong>data</strong>, without the need to remove<br />
the tool from the work piece clamping. This <strong>data</strong> can<br />
be fed into the grinding program for automatic exact<br />
compensation resulting in a precisely ground tool.<br />
A wide range of applications based on the renowned<br />
ANCA iGrind platform is available within ANCA<br />
ToolRoom ® software suite. The iGrind interface is<br />
user friendly, offering a high degree of flexibility and<br />
operational efficiency. The ToolRoom ® suite of software<br />
supports the grinding of drills, end mills, profile tools,<br />
burrs, routers and many other special applications.<br />

Loader options<br />
To enhance the GX7’s capabilities, it can be equipped<br />
with several loader options.<br />
CLX - Compact Loader<br />
Designed to meet strict space and budget<br />
specifications the economy and efficiency of the<br />
CLX means that automatic loading is now viable for<br />
companies who do low-volume production runs and<br />
cannot justify more complex systems. The loader arm<br />
is fully contained within the canopy so the machine<br />
footprint is not increased and the loader utilises the<br />
existing machine axes, which saves cost and space.<br />
DLX - Drum Loader<br />
Suitable for loading straight-shank tools directly from<br />
the loader pockets or tools held in Nikken KM16, 20 or<br />
32 collets. The DLX provides the flexibility to be set up<br />
with a variety of tool types and sizes.
