TEAM EFFORT<br />

Santa Fe Christian School sophomore Erin Moody (left) and<br />

senior Conner Smith take the lead as Santa Fe students<br />

partner with the Salvation Army in a pilot program designed<br />

to enhance the holiday Red Kettle bell-ringing campaign,<br />

benefiting Americans in need. All kettle donations stay in<br />

the individual community where the kettles are placed. <strong>The</strong><br />

Salvation Army has been serving San Diego since 1887,<br />

with donations providing Christmas dinners, clothing, and<br />

toys for families as well as assistance throughout the year.<br />

Young artists<br />

come together to<br />

remember Ariana<br />

SOLANA BEACH —<br />

Young musicians from<br />

around the county will perform<br />

from 7 to 9 p.m. <strong>Nov</strong>. 10<br />

at Calvary Lutheran Church,<br />

424 Via de la Valle, to raise<br />

money against comple x congenital<br />

heart disease at the<br />

third annual Heart of a Child<br />

concert. Proceeds will benefit<br />

the Ariana Fund, a nonprofit<br />

organization formed in<br />

2008 in memor y of Ariana<br />

Miller, a 13-year-old<br />

Encinitas girl who died from<br />

the disease that y ear while<br />

waiting for a heart transplant.<br />

Doors will open at 5:30<br />

p.m. for refreshments and a<br />

silent auction. Tickets, at $25<br />

each general admission and<br />

$15 students, can be purchased<br />

at the door or online<br />

at thearianafund.org.<br />

This year’s performers<br />

will include:<br />

— Bunnell Strings:<br />

Siblings Keren, Kimberly,<br />

Corrie, Cara and Ross<br />

Bunnell play violins, viola,<br />

cello and bass.<br />

— String Spar ks: Keil<br />

and Heidi Fleisc hbein, 17<br />

and 14, of Clairemont play<br />

cello, violin, viola, and organ,<br />

but will be pla ying harp for<br />

the concert.<br />

— Wesley I. Soo Hoo:<br />

Currently attending UC<br />

Irvine, the Carlsbad resident<br />

is a classical pianist.<br />

— Summer Blinco: <strong>The</strong><br />

soprano attends P alomar<br />

College, has been acti ve in<br />

musical theater since she<br />

was 12.<br />

— Sadie Duca: A fourthgrader<br />

from Carlsbad, sings,<br />

plays piano and writes music.<br />

— Megan Spector: <strong>The</strong><br />

12-year-old lives in Carm el<br />

Valley and has been in many<br />

musical theater productions.<br />

— Remy Margaret<br />

Corbin: Is a thir d-grader<br />

from San Marcos<br />

— Alexis Louise Young:<br />

<strong>The</strong> Escondido gir l, 17, has<br />

worked with many youth and<br />

professional theater companies<br />

in the county.<br />

— Daniel Myers: A solo<br />

vocalist who li ves in San<br />

Diego, attends USC and has<br />

performed with the San<br />

Diego Symphony and the<br />

San Diego Opera.<br />

— J*Company On <strong>The</strong><br />

Town, young musicians from<br />

around the county ser ve as<br />

ambassadors for the<br />

J*Company Youth <strong>The</strong>atre in<br />

San Diego.<br />

— Hal and Lindse y<br />

Grant: Lindsey, a high school<br />

senior, lives in Encinitas, has<br />

appeared in se veral<br />

J*Company productions. She<br />

was a friend of Ariana’s when<br />

they both attended<br />

Olivenhain Pioneer<br />

Elementary School.<br />
