The <strong>Temple</strong><br />

Wiping the vizier’s stinging dust from<br />
your eyes, you see you are on a desolate,<br />
rocky coast. The sea crashes in foamy waves<br />
behind you, <strong>and</strong> inl<strong>and</strong> are steep-sided hills<br />
cut by deep ravines. About 70 paces ahead<br />
st<strong>and</strong>s the pocked <strong>and</strong> discolored ruin of a<br />
temple, choked with ivy <strong>and</strong> debris. Its mar-<br />
ble columns <strong>and</strong> arches tower above the<br />
shore, still imposing despite the decay.<br />
There is nothing else of note in the area. This<br />
area (like the tower <strong>and</strong> tomb areas) is over 500<br />
miles from the Autarch’s palace, in a remote<br />
region of the DM’s choice.<br />
The <strong>Temple</strong> of Amnissos 1<br />
1. Main <strong>Temple</strong> Arts<br />
The open front portion of the temple is<br />
ringed by crumbling 12-foot-high pillars.<br />
Inside it is dim <strong>and</strong> gloomy but remarkably<br />
intact. The floor is W, although vines <strong>and</strong><br />
weeds grow through the tiles in many places.<br />
At the center oftheroom is a ldfoot-tall statue.<br />
At the rear of the nxnn is a heap of brush.<br />
The statue has the body of a man with a<br />
vulture‘s grotesque head <strong>and</strong> clawed feet. A<br />
snake is twined around its right arm, <strong>and</strong> its<br />
skeletal left arm is bare. The statue’s cylindri-<br />
cal dais is 10 feet in diameter <strong>and</strong> 1 foot high,<br />
<strong>and</strong> an inscription is carved along its side.<br />
With a few minutes of study or a high view-<br />
point, the tile patterns can be recognized as de<br />
