Mr. DiNOELL. The Chair wishes to commend you. You have given us<br />

a very thoughtful and helpful statement. You certainly have made an<br />

excellent case for the bill. The Chair can only say that your efforts<br />

in this particular have only been exceeded by tliose of Mr. Matsuna^<br />

and Mrs. Mink, who have pressed the committee most vigorously ror<br />

hearings today and are now pushing for further action.<br />

I hope you folks in Hawaii appreciate the fine quality of represen-<br />

tation you have here and the very able Members you have here serving<br />

in Washington.<br />

Our next witness is one who also flew 5,000 miles for the specific<br />

purpose of testifying. He is the president-elect of the Honolulu Japa-<br />

nese Chamber of Commerce ana who by law happens to be an uncle<br />

of my distinguished colleague, Mrs. Mink.<br />

Mr. DixoEix. Mr. Tamura, we are certainly pleased to welcome you<br />

to the committee, the more so in view of the relationship you have with<br />

the distinguished gentlewoman from Hawaii, Mrs. Mink, for whom all<br />

of us here have such high regard. We are privileged to have you<br />

with us.<br />

My name is Fred I. Tamura. I am president-elect of the Japanese<br />

Chamber of Commerce. I also today have the privilege of representing<br />

the Hilo Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and, as at-<br />

test«d by a telegram I just received this morning, I will be speaking<br />

for the Chinese, the Filipino, and the Korean Chambers of Commerce<br />

of Hawaii.<br />

Mr. DiNGELL. Mr. Tamura, without objection the telegram will ap-<br />
