clogged by the transformed gel-like product.<br />

4.1.2 Formation <strong>of</strong> a White Unidentified M<strong>as</strong>s<br />

When the gel-like m<strong>as</strong>s w<strong>as</strong> transferred to a beaker containing acetone for decoloration, it<br />

immediately transformed into a white m<strong>as</strong>s <strong>of</strong> cotton ball (Figure 6).<br />

4.1.3 Disappearance <strong>and</strong> Poor Yield<br />

When the m<strong>as</strong>s w<strong>as</strong> w<strong>as</strong>hed with tap water, it dissolved swiftly leaving very small<br />

amounts <strong>of</strong> m<strong>as</strong>s (0.34g out <strong>of</strong> 100g shell powders) with varying particle size (Figure 7).<br />

Thus, it can perhaps be <strong>as</strong>sumed that this unknown m<strong>as</strong>s is a product <strong>of</strong> depolymerization.<br />
