2. Endlang Alorbrokes to Wodeford: ' Along Alder<br />

Brook to the Ford of the Wood.'<br />

The name Woodford Brake survives on <strong>this</strong> brook at<br />

a point f m. E. of Nettleton Shrub (OMi). So <strong>this</strong> one<br />

landmark carries the survey right down the E. <strong>by</strong>. of the<br />

parish, and along part of the S. <strong>by</strong>. The ford was where the<br />

road running SE. from Nettleton crosses the brook.<br />

3. Of, etc. to Streteford ·. ' From Woodford to the Ford<br />

of the Street (or Made Road).'<br />

This ford is i m. SW. of the last, where the Fosse Way<br />

crosses the brook.<br />

As I cannot trace any more of the landmarks of the<br />

charter, I simply give the translation of them.<br />

4. Of, etc. to Meredich : ' From Street Ford to<br />

Boundary Dyke.'<br />

Probably <strong>this</strong> went up the S. part of the W. <strong>by</strong>. to the<br />

W. of the village of West Kington.<br />

5. Vp of Merdich out to Bilham <strong>that</strong> hit comet to Langforlang<br />

suthzcard : ' Up from Boundary Dyke to Bilham<br />

till it comes to the south end of Long Furlong.'<br />

6. Thanen to Hengrave : ' Then to Bird Grove.'<br />

7. Of, etc. to Cefelandgrave : ' From Bird Grove to<br />

the Grove of the Land of the Concubine.'<br />

8. Thanen to Abban<strong>be</strong>rghe to than Orputten to the Fer<br />

eft sone : ' Then to Abba's Barrow to the . . . Pits to the<br />

Furrow again quickly.'<br />
