The topographical details are so few, and of such a<br />
nature, <strong>that</strong> they do not give any real clue as to the site<br />
of <strong>this</strong> mead. <strong>It</strong> is possible <strong>that</strong> it was in the NW. part of<br />
the parish. A perambulation of Wishford mentions a<br />
Woodes Cleeve, or Hogges Cleeve, which was at the NE.<br />
corner of Great Wishford parish 3 fur. S. <strong>by</strong> E. of the bridge<br />
at Serrington (OMi).<br />
A survey of three hides at Fyrste Felda which <strong>be</strong>longed<br />
to South Newton.<br />
This is the later Frustfield. <strong>It</strong> was also the name of a<br />
hundred which seems to have lain to the SE. of Salisbury.<br />
But the name has vanished from the modern map ; and,<br />
though I have come across many references to Frustfield<br />
in various old records, I have not so far come across any<br />
indication of its exact position. Here it is not a question<br />
of the position of a hundred or even a parish, but of a<br />
sm<strong>all</strong> area of three hides ; so <strong>that</strong> the only possible clue to<br />
their locality would <strong>be</strong> an exact knowledge of the position of<br />
Frustfield. Even were <strong>that</strong> known it would not necessarily<br />
<strong>be</strong> possible to trace the site of an area the bounds of<br />
which are not likely to <strong>be</strong> represented to any great extent<br />
<strong>by</strong> modern boundaries. I give a translation of the survey<br />
in the hope <strong>that</strong> it may <strong>be</strong> of help to some one <strong>who</strong> may<br />
hereafter <strong>be</strong> able to trace the land to which it refers.<br />

<strong>by</strong>rgeth, and translate :—' These are the bounds on the<br />
west side of Fyrste Felda which <strong>be</strong>long to the three hides.'<br />
