Exporting and Importing Documents current document. However, if an additional flag “Create new document” is set, then a new document will be created for the assembly. Import SolidWorks When importing from SolidWorks, the imported model is placed into the current T-FLEX CAD document. When importing the assembly model, each part of the assembly is imported to a separate file and inserted into the current T-FLEX CAD document as a 3D fragment. When importing an associative relation is maintained between the T-FLEX CAD 3D model resulting from the import, and the SolidWorks source model. Whenever the source model is modified, the external model imported in T-FLEX CAD can be updated. If the SolidWorks of version 2008 and lower is installed on your computer, in the list of file types of the command “IM: Import Drawing Or Model” there will be one more option of import from the Solidworks (for example, “SolidWorks Files via SW API (*.sldprt, *.prt, *.sldasm, *.asm)”). When selecting this option, an alternative version of the module of SolidWorks import module will be started. This module allows importing the mates. The input parameters dialog of alternative module displays the name of the imported part. The only import parameter is the “Create new document” flag. It is disabled by default, and the import result is inserted in the current document. 697

Fundamentals. Two-Dimensional Design 698 When importing an assembly, the import dialog has a window that displays the contents of the imported assembly and the folder name, in which the resulting files will be created. Additionally, there are the following import parameters in the dialog: Import Assembly into One File/Import Parts into Separate Files. The switch defines the method of importing an assembly and the type of the import result. If the “Import Assembly into One File” setting is selected, then the assembly is imported as a single model. In this way of importing, the resulting model will be fully identical to the SolidWorks model. In this case, all relations between model components are lost. The final body represents a single “External Model” operation. When using the “Import Parts into Separate Files” setting, each parts of the assembly is imported into a separate file and is inserted in the resulting assembly file as a 3D fragment. If this import mode is used, then it is possible to import mates existing in the SolidWorks source assembly. Nevertheless, additional operations created directly in the assembly file could be lost in this way of importing, that is the operations that do not belong to any part. For example, if several holes are created directly in a SolidWorks assembly model file, rather than in the part files, then those will be lost after the import. By default, an assembly is imported as a single model. Create Mates for Assembly. When this flag is set, the mates from the source SolidWorks assembly will be imported in the resulting model. This flag is available only when the “Import assembly in a file group” method is selected. The flag is disabled by default, meaning that mates are not imported. Create new Document. This flag is cleared by default, so that an assembly is imported into the current document. Upon enabling this flag, the import result is put in a new document.
