Exporting and Importing Documents
the resulting file. The need for it may arise, for example, when model is expected to be imported into
Autodesk Inventor in the future.
Set of Bodies. Geometry contained in the file being converted is exported as a plain set of bodies
without creating an assembly structure. Each body contained in the model is exported separately.
Open Inventor (*.iv) Format
When exporting into the format Open Inventor, you need to specify
the purpose of exporting: “Export T-FLEX CAD specific data” or
“Full Compatibility with external applications”. If the “internal
use” choice was made (that is, insertion in T-FLEX CAD), then
additional information about LCS existing in the model will be
saved in the exported file. When later importing in T-FLEX CAD,
coordinate systems could be used for snapping the model.
When exporting into external applications, the LCS information is not saved (such information could
interfere with correct reading of the model by some systems).
IGES (*.igs, *.iges) Formats
When selecting the IGES format, at first, the way of exporting the model
needs to be chosen:
Use Solid Geometry (type 186). Bodies are converted with the
conservation of topology. When using this approach, additional
parameters do not have to be specified.
Use Trimmed Surfaces (type 144). While exporting, the topological
information is not preserved – each face of the body is transformed into
a trimmed spline surface. The type of resulting surfaces of the model is
determined by specifying the following transformation parameters:
Using NURBS. Setting this flag allows use of rational splines
(NURBS) when converting a model. If the flag is cleared, all exported
geometry is described solely by polynomial splines.
Using only cubic splines. This option bans use of any degree splines
other than third-degree ones.
Using wire frame. If this flag is not set, then the solid model will be exported in the resulting file.
When the flag is set, the wireframe model is exported. By default, this flag is disabled.
Export 3D Paths. This parameter allows exporting 3D paths and 3D profiles. If it is cleared, the paths
and profiles are not exported.
