Creating BOM on New Drawing Page or New Document
Bill of Materials
Call the command “BC: Create Bill of Materials”. In the coming up dialog box set parameter “On New
Page” and select a prototype (for example, “ISO_BOM.grb”). Press [OK]. As a result, a new page will be
created in the document, displaying the BOM being created in editing mode (subsequent BOM pages are also
created automatically). When creating a BOM in a new document, the document window of the BOM being
created opens up. Similarly, it will display the BOM in the editing mode.
Data from fragments may be automatically included in the BOM being created. This occurs on the following
conditions. The BOM data had to be defined for the fragments being inserted in the assembly at the time of
the assembly creation. Besides, the appropriate parameter had to be set for each fragment, allowing including
this fragment in the BOM. The same is true for records
created in the command “BD: Set BOM Data”, with
the flag set, “Include in the current Document” (see the
section “Bill of Materials Data”). Otherwise, an empty
BOM will be created in the document, so that the
relation with fragments will have to be defined
separately.
Initially, the BOM being created will be in the editing
mode, looking as shown on the diagram. The
appearance and formatting rules for the BOM table
will be copied from its base prototype.
BOM editing is discussed below (see the section
“Editing BOM”).
In the cases, when the BOM data was not defined or relation
with fragments was not established, an empty BOM is
displayed on the screen. In this case, the dialog box “Aad
record to group” will be displayed.
This dialog box appears any time when editing an empty
BOM. By using this dialog, you can add the desired records
to any of the groups. If the specified group does not exist in
the BOM, it will be created automatically. You can abort
BOM creation by pressing the button [Cancel].
BOM creation is confirmed by the option:
Finish input
Alternatively, you can right click , with the pointer being outside the BOM table area.
Creating BOM on Existing Drawing Page
Call the command “BC: Create Bill of Materials”. In the coming up dialog box set parameter “On
Existing Page” and select the desired prototype (depending on the drafting standards, certain prototypes may
not be permitted for creating BOMs on the current page). To automatically position the BOM prototype on
the drawing, check the optional parameter “Automatic snap” (recommended). Usually, such BOMs up
created on the drawings with their title blocks already in place.
