Fundamentals. Two-Dimensional Design BILL OF MATERIALS 610 T-FLEX CAD provides convenient means for automating bill of materials (BOM) composition in the formats recommended by major standards, as well as in user-defined formats. A T-FLEX CAD BOM is a table containing data about fragments inserted in to the main assembly. If necessary, a drawing may contain several BOMs. Such a table is created based on a template defining the table contents and the rules for formatting its contents. BOMs can be created based on standard templates, as well as on user-defined ones. Standard BOM templates are located in the folder “…\T-FLEX Parametric CAD\Program\Template\BOM\”. BOM data is automatically copied from fragment files or is input by the user manually. Working with BOM For automatic filling of the BOM table, it is necessary that: • Fragment documents have BOM data defined (see the section “Preparing data for BOM”); • The parameter “Include in new BOMs” among the fragment properties (see the chapter “Assembly Drawing”) is set to one of the options for including the fragment data in the BOM of the main assembly (Without Embedded Elements, With Embedded Elements, Embedded Elements Only, With BOM, BOM only); • BOM is created in the assembly document (see the section “Creating BOM”). With these requirements met, each record in the table will correspond to the respective fragment. The list number of a record in the BOM table can later be bound to the leader note position number in the assembly (see the section “Setting Positions in Assembly”). The set of respective icons for the BOM creation commands is available on the main toolbar (button set “Bill of Materials”). Of these commands are also available in the textual menu “Tools|Bill of Materials”. If the current document does not contain BOMs, most of the icons will be inaccessible. One can view of the list of existing BOMs in a document by using the command “BM: Bills of Materials”: Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “Tools|Bill of Materials| Bills of Materials…” Upon calling this, a dialog box appears to the screen with the list of all BOMs existing in the document. This dialog box allows creating a new BOM, deleting an existing one (by selecting from the list) or viewing its properties. It also allows renaming a BOM file if the BOM was created as a separate document. If such a BOM was selected, the graphic button [Save As…] becomes accessible, allowing the name and folder change.
