Save Database As External Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “File|Save As External Database” None Databases Allows saving the database currently loaded in the editor as external, regardless of its original format − internal, external or a database by reference. This command provides the capability of creating new external databases. Since the command “Create New Database” allows creating only internal databases and databases by reference, the current command allows creating a new external database from the created new internal database by saving the latter as external. Delete internal database Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “File|Delete Internal Database” Deletes an internal database or a database by reference. If some variable references a database being deleted, system will output the corresponding error message and the database will not be deleted. Set database properties Exit Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “File|Properties” None The command is provided for editing the attributes of the database. In the case of internal databases, you can edit the name and the comment. In the case of the databases by reference, it's the name, comment, path (including the filename) and the table name. The command is inaccessible for external databases. Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “File|Exit” None If any changes were made in the editor session, then upon calling this command a prompt is displayed: “You made some changes. Save them?”. You can save the changes and leave the editor, or finish without saving the last changes, or else continue working in the editor. If no changes were made after the last save, the editor exits silently. If, upon confirming saving changes, an error is encountered during the model regeneration, the editor exits without saving the changes. The actions done upon pressing the graphic buttons [OK] and [Cancel] can be considered belonging in the same group of commands. When using the button [OK], the changes are saved. If thereafter an error occurs when recalculating variables, the system displays a warning. When using the button [Cancel], a warning is output about possible loss of the changes made, requiring confirming your action. The group “Edit” contains the following commands: “Undo”, “Cut”, “Copy”, “Paste”, “Delete”, “Select All”, “Find”. The mode of those commands depends on the current state of the editor. If no cell is currently marked than all the commands: cut, paste, copy, delete - work in the standard mode, affecting the current cell. If there is a selected block, then the commands work as described in the next section – “Handling blocks”. 529
<strong>Fundamentals</strong>. Two-Dimensional <strong>Design</strong> Handling blocks A capability is provided for deleting, pasting and copying several rows at once for effectiveness. Besides, this provides an opportunity of copying data from one database into another, located in a separate drawing, as well as the data exchange across different applications. 530 To manage blocks of rows, you need to learn how to select a block. This operation can be done by mouse. Move the pointer to the area of the row numbers. The pointer becomes a two-sided vertical arrow. This pointer appearance indicates that you can start selecting a block. Point the mouse to the first record in the block and depress , hold it down and drag the mouse to the last record in the block. The records in the selected area will be highlighted. Once you reach the desired record, release the left mouse button. The block will stay selected. It can be deleted, cut or copied. Cutting a block means deleting it in the editor and placing it on the clipboard from where it can be later pasted. The copying command just places the selected block on the clipboard without deleting it. The group “Row” contains the following commands: Insert Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “Row|Insert” Inserts a new empty row before the current row, making the inserted row current. Clear Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “Row|Clear” None Clears the contents of all fields in the current row. Delete Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “Row|Delete” Deletes the current row. Move Down Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “Row|Move Down” Swaps the current and the next row. Move Up Keyboard Textual Menu Icon “Row|Move Up” Swaps the current and the previous row.
