Object type. This is the list of OLE objects<br />

supported for inserting in the drawing. For<br />

the user to be able to insert or modify an<br />

OLE object, the respective authoring<br />

application must be installed on the<br />

computer.<br />

Result. This provides a brief description of<br />

user actions upon pressing [OK].<br />

Display As Icon. Upon setting this option,<br />

the object will be inserted in the drawing as<br />

an icon that can be selected in order to view<br />

or edit the object within the authoring<br />

application.<br />

If, instead, an existing file is inserted in the<br />

drawing, a different dialog will appear.<br />

By using the [Browse] button, you can<br />

select a file on the disk. In this way, the<br />

authoring application will be automatically<br />

determined by the file extension (provided it<br />

was entered in the Windows Registry).<br />

A link can be established with the source file,<br />

using the option “Link”. In this way, the<br />

source file will be opened for editing the OLE<br />

picture, using its authoring application.<br />

Context menu. Command “Links”<br />

Upon right-clicking an OLE object, the context menu appears, with additional items: “Links”, “Edit”,<br />

“Open”.<br />

[Update now]. This button allows to<br />

instantly refresh the data of the OLE<br />

object. This data will be read from the<br />

referenced file according to the links.<br />

[Open source]. Opens the file to<br />

which the OLE object links. The file is<br />

opened by its respective authoring<br />

application.<br />

[Change source]. Upon pressing this<br />

button, you can modify the links to the<br />

referenced file, that is, to change the data<br />

source for the OLE object.<br />

[Break link]. Upon pressing this button, the relation with the source file of the OLE object will be<br />

terminated.
