The Practice Parameters Project is designed to provide<br />

pediatricians with state-of-the-art practice guidelines,<br />

including patient management and clinical decisi<strong>on</strong>making<br />

tools. To date, practice parameters for acute asthma,<br />

hyperbilirubinemia, otitis media, evaluati<strong>on</strong> of febrile<br />

seizures, and acute gastroenteritis have been published. New<br />

practice parameters are being developed for minor and serious<br />

head trauma, diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract<br />

infecti<strong>on</strong>, developmental hip dysplasia, fever, wheezing in<br />

young children, diabetes mellitus, treatment of febrile<br />

seizures, and attenti<strong>on</strong> deficit/hyperactivity disorder.<br />

The Ambulatory <str<strong>on</strong>g>Care</str<strong>on</strong>g> Quality Improvement Program assists<br />

pediatricians in evaluating their practices and comparing them<br />

to their peers in the areas of practice management, clinical<br />

management, and patient satisfacti<strong>on</strong>.<br />
