Descripti<strong>on</strong> This is an integrated set of carefully tested and standardized survey<br />

questi<strong>on</strong>naires for use by <str<strong>on</strong>g>Medicaid</str<strong>on</strong>g>, Medicare, and privately insured'<br />

enrollees. It is being developed by a c<strong>on</strong>sortium at Harvard Medical<br />

School, Research Triangle Institute, and RAND. A core set of items<br />

will be used with all resp<strong>on</strong>dents, including enrollment/payment:<br />

demographics; perceived quality of health care - access, preventive<br />

care, communicati<strong>on</strong>/interacti<strong>on</strong>, c<strong>on</strong>tinuity/coordinati<strong>on</strong>, access,<br />

administrative burden, and global evaluati<strong>on</strong>; utilizati<strong>on</strong>; and<br />

perceived health status. Additi<strong>on</strong>al questi<strong>on</strong>s are being developed for<br />

use with certain subgroups, including pers<strong>on</strong>s with chr<strong>on</strong>ic or<br />

disabling c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Title Ensuring Quality Project<br />

Descripti<strong>on</strong> This project is developing a Family Survey <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Managed</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Care</str<strong>on</strong>g> that<br />

includes measures of family satisfacti<strong>on</strong> as well as plan performance.<br />

The survey is designed to be used within a managed care plan as pan<br />

of a quality improvement program. It is specifically targeted to<br />

families of children with special health needs. Measures are<br />

organized into the following eight domains: family participati<strong>on</strong> and<br />

overall satisfacti<strong>on</strong> with health plan; informati<strong>on</strong> available to<br />

families; written health care plan; primary care services; specialty<br />

care services; health services, supplies and equipment; mental health<br />

services; and care coordinati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
