Penn Employees Exempt<br />
Expenses which would otherwise devolve<br />
upon their employees under the Social Security<br />
Act beginning Jan. 1, will be borne<br />
by the Penn Furniture Co., which maintains<br />
branch stores in Johnstown, Pa.. Altoona<br />
and Somerset, Pa., according to recent announcement<br />
made by Isador Klatzkin. manager<br />
of the Johnstown store. This arrangement<br />
was decided upon in accordance<br />
with the national trend of companies and<br />
corporations to provide wage increases or<br />
bonuses for their workers, and includes payment<br />
by the company of both employers'<br />
and employees' assessments of the social security<br />
program.<br />
50-Year Celebration<br />
Chairman of the Board of the Eagle-Ottawa<br />
Co., William Hatton, recently celebrated an<br />
anniversary representing his 50th year in<br />
this country. Just one-half a century ago,<br />
"Bill" arrived in the United States, a poor<br />
many, a hospital, a gymnasium to his home<br />
town. A sincere American, his aim is to<br />
do things which he feels will be for the best<br />
interest and welfare of the American people.<br />
Regarding the great tannery which he has<br />
developed with so much success, Hatton<br />
says, ''There is nothing like leather, there<br />
never has been and probably never will be.<br />
Providing, of course, it is good leather."<br />
Dykeman At Fancher's<br />
William Dykeman, formerly connected<br />
with the Jamestown Mantel Co., has acquired<br />
an interest in Fancher Furniture Co.,<br />
Salamanca, was elected a director, general<br />
manager of the company.<br />

The first consumer advertising campaign<br />
in the 50-year history of the Artloom Rug<br />
Corp.. Philadelphia, will be handled by J.<br />
