Burghley House near Stamford
Built between 1555 -1587 by William Cecil, Lord High
Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, Burghley is one the largest
and grandest houses of the first Elizabethan Age.
The grounds include landscaped gardens designed by
“Capability” Brown, a lakeside walk, Orangery Restaurant,
Gift Shop & the exciting Garden of Surprises.
Many events are held throughout the year such as the
famous Burghley Park horse trials, the open air Battle Proms
Firework Concert and an annual Christmas craft fare.
