PASSIONS
Mille Miglia
An exceptional anniversary
Chopard has sponsored the legendary race
for 20 years
A solid partnership
It was in 19988 that Chopard presented the
first Mille Miglia chronograph. The Scheufele
family, owners of the famous brand of
watchmakers and jewellers in Geneva have
personally participated for 20 years in the
legendary 1000-mile race that takes drivers
from Brescia to Rome and back. Karl-Friedrich
Scheufele, co-chairman of Chopard and avid
car collector is convinced that those who love
beautiful cars also have a penchant for
sophisticated watches which, gave him the
idea of developing a Mille Miglia chronograph.
The Mille Miglia watch had to have a sporty
feel as well as an extreme precision movement
worthy of a stopwatch during a race.
Since 1988, serious collectors wait each year
for the presentation of the latest Mille Miglia
chronograph. Each model surprises and
delights with its innovative design, unequalled
technical functions and the materials used in
its production.
A prestigious history
Created in 1927 this race dubbed “the greatest
race in the world” by Enzo Ferrari, from the
off attracted the best sports cars and the best
racing drivers in the world. The Second World
War halted the event for several years and then
there was the accident involving Alfonso de

Portago that brutally stopped the race in 1957.
It was born again in 1977 allowing
participation to vehicles built between 1927
and 1957; a superb race for a unique itinerary.
Mille Miglia the legend had returned!
The 2008 collection
Characteristic, seductive, with a generous
shape and resolutely dynamic look, the new
Mille Miglia GT XL Chrono will delight all fans
of sporty mechanisms. This new speed
machine with mechanic chronograph
movement certified as a chronometer (COSC)
is a watch with resolutely sporty lines with
integrated rectangular buttons and a
natural black rubber strap taking up the motif
of the 1960’s Dunlop racing tyres, or in pink
gold with a crocodile bracelet, this vintage
Mille Miglia 2008 is available in a limited
