For the purpose of holding General Sessions of the Peace, the County is divided into East and West Ridings,
and contains 23 Baronies, as follows:—East Riding— Barretts, Barrymore, Condons and Clongibbon, Cork,
Duhailow, Fermoy, Imokilly, Kerricurrihy, Kinalea, Kinnatalloon, Kinsale, Muskerry East, and Orrery and
Kilmore. West Riding—Bantry, Bear, Carbery East, Carbery East W.D., Carbery West E.D.; Carbery West
W.D., Courceys, Ibane and Barryroe, and Kinalmeaky. Quarter Sessions for the East Riding are held at
Cork, Fermoy, Kanturk, Kinsale, Mallow, Midleton, and Youghal; for the West Riding at Bandon, Bantry,
Clonakilty, Macroom, and Skibbereen. There are 53 Petty Sessions and 20 Constabulary Districts in county.
The principal Landholders in the County Directory are arranged in Parishes under the respective Electoral
Divisions and Postal Districts to which they belong. The Civil and Ecclesiastical Parishes are not conterminous.
