When the $250,000 coaling station at Lake Borgne
canal, near New Orleans, was to be passed upon by
the board of engineers, the Mississippi bank caved
in and almost wrecked the whole plant. One of the
towers collapsed and a section of the wharf was
carried away. The total loss may reach $75,000.
C. Jutte & Co., of Pittsburgh, established the plant.
The Evans colliery at Beaver Meadow, near
Hazleton, Pa., is about to resume operations tinder
the management of the newly organized concern
of McClelland & Co.
