The officers of the Pittsburgh-Buffalo Co. and
the mine superintendents and foremen were entertained
on the evening of May 2(1 at a banquet
at tbe Union Club, Pittsburgh, at which Mr. James
Jones, the founder of the Jones interests, presided.
Mr. Jones recently celebrated the seventieth
anniversary of his birthday.

An inspection party, in charge of General Manager
W. G. Cronkright. made an inspection on
May 20, of the mines and coke ovens at North
Ligonier, of the Old Colony Coal & Coke Co. At
the conclusion of the examination the party returned
to Ligonier where a banquet was served at
the Ligonier Springs hotel.
Announcement is made that Mr. Roy Rainey
will upon his return from the European tour he
is now making, assume full charge of the W. J.
Rainey interests. No official changes are announced
and it is given out that the officers of
the conipany will remain at Connellsville, Pa.
Mr. Charles H. Spencer, formerly the general
agent at Pittsburgh for the H. C. Frick Coke Co.,
has been appointed general manager of the Hecla
Coke Co. and Mr. J. D. McCreary, late assistant
auditor, has been made secretary and treasurer
of the Hecla Co.
The Mexican Coal & Coke Co. has declared a
semi-annual dividend of 3 per cent.
