SKY CONDITION<br />

Sky condition is a description of the appearance of the sky (celestial dome) as seen from the weather<br />

station. The celestial dome is that part of the sky that would be visible above all natural obstructions<br />

(hills and trees) if man-made obstructions (build<strong>in</strong>gs) were not present. This means that if your view<br />

of the sky is partly obstructed by a nearby build<strong>in</strong>g, you are expected to make a reasonable effort to see<br />

or estimate what is on the other side. Note that, <strong>in</strong> Figure 5-2, the celestial dome is bounded by the hills<br />

on the left and the trees on the right but not by the build<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
