now made prisoners to carry the looted material to their camp. Princesses and<br />

rich women with clothes tom, body covered with dust and ash, wounded and<br />

injured, molested and raped, tied with ropes were made to carry the materials<br />

on their heads.<br />

Atthis time, the <strong>Guru</strong> had ahJQin <strong>com</strong>e to Saidpur. The <strong>Guru</strong> and Mardana<br />

also became prisoners. Mardana was told to escort a horse of Mir Khan, an<br />

army officer. The <strong>Guru</strong> asked Mardana to leave the horse and sing the divine<br />

songs while walking.<br />

With the other prisoners, the <strong>Guru</strong> also walked dyed in the love of the<br />

Lord. It is written that he was also asked to carry one item on his head but the<br />

item remained a little above his head and went along as if carried.<br />

The <strong>Guru</strong> saw the suffering of the people. The women were pushed<br />

around and were walking tied to ropes as slaves. The town was devastated,<br />

looted, people killed and blood spilled. It was calamity. At this time, Mir<br />

Khan, army officer, while on duty came to the place where the <strong>Guru</strong> was<br />

walking. When he became attentive to see, what he saw was that two Indians<br />

who were in captivity were exceptional. The weight being carried by one of<br />

them was being carried about six inches high from the head and was going<br />

along. The other was playing the rebeck while walking and the horse that he<br />

was supposed to escort was follOwing him without being held by a rope and<br />

he was singing a divine song that was enthralling.<br />

Now, all the prisoners including the <strong>Guru</strong> who were walking towards the<br />

camp of the invaders reached the camp. There, the prisoners were put on<br />

different jobs. Grinding wheels were put in front of the <strong>Guru</strong> and Mardana<br />

and they were told to grind wheat.<br />

Here, Mir Khan went and told Babar thattwo saints have <strong>com</strong>e as prisoners<br />

but they are walking in delight and their faces are lustrous. The weight is<br />

being carried sixinches high from the head by itself and the horse is follOwing<br />

without being held by the rope and they are singing some divine songs.<br />

Babar said: Alas! Ifthere was a saint like this in town, why did we attack?<br />

Saying this, Babar himself came to the camp. Here he saw that Hindu,<br />

Muslim and Pathan women were hJTinding wheat and very wealthy people<br />

were doing hard jobs. Then he walked ahead and saw that two saints are<br />

sitting but the grinding wheels are moving by therrtselves. Babar was amazed<br />

to see that. Then he wished to talk to the <strong>Guru</strong> but the <strong>Guru</strong> was in wondrousness<br />

in meditation. He opened his eyes after sometime and sang a song in praise of<br />

the Lord. The effect of the melody and tune of the song was such that Bahar<br />
