LESSONS FOR MINI-MIDGETS<br />

Mini-midget Instruction is open to<br />

children 4 and 5 years old. If you wish to<br />

register your child in this programme please<br />

read <strong>the</strong> following instructions carefully,<br />

fill in <strong>the</strong> application form, enclose your<br />

cheque and mail it to us before November<br />

30th.<br />

Instructions<br />

Please keep for reference<br />

1. Children registered in <strong>the</strong> Mini­<br />

midget programme have <strong>the</strong> use of <strong>the</strong><br />

Babysitting Lodge- Connie's Lodge­<br />

Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,<br />

January lOth to March 13th inclusive. ( 10<br />

week period)<br />

2. Lessons begin Wednesday, January<br />

15th, at 1:30 p.m. and last for 1 hour.<br />

Classes will be held (wea<strong>the</strong>r permitting)<br />

for an 8 week period, ending on Wednes­<br />

March 5th.<br />

3. Mini-midgets only will be accepted<br />

on Wednesdays. An exception will be made<br />

(if possible) depending on <strong>the</strong> number in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Lodge, for families in which <strong>the</strong>re is<br />

a Mini-midget and a younger child age 2<br />

or over.<br />

4. At least one parent must be an<br />

Ottawa Ski Club member, as <strong>the</strong> Lodge is<br />

for <strong>the</strong> use of members only. Memberships<br />

can be purchased at <strong>the</strong> Ottawa Ski Club<br />

Office on Queen Street.<br />

5. Mini-midgets must be Ottawa Ski<br />

Club merpbers. (Membership numbers may<br />

be phoned in up to November 3.0th, o<strong>the</strong>rwise<br />

application will be wait-listed).<br />

6. Mini-midgets must have steel-edged<br />

skis with release cable fittings. Boots should<br />

be sturdy. As a guide, <strong>the</strong> skis should be<br />

about <strong>the</strong> same height as <strong>the</strong> child for a<br />

4 year old, and slightly longer for <strong>the</strong> 5<br />

year olds. Plastic bases are desirable for 5<br />

year olds, but not for beginning 4 year<br />

olds.<br />

7. For <strong>the</strong> safety and comfort of your<br />

Mini-midget, it is necessary that he (or she)<br />

be registered at <strong>the</strong> Babysitting Lodge, as<br />

he may have to be returned <strong>the</strong>re before<br />

completion of <strong>the</strong> lesson, or <strong>the</strong> appearance<br />

of <strong>the</strong> parent. Your fee registers your child<br />

at <strong>the</strong> Lodge and entitles him to <strong>the</strong> free<br />

lessons.<br />

8. The Babysitting fee for <strong>the</strong> Wednes­<br />

days of <strong>the</strong> 10 week period remains unchanged:<br />

$10.00 ... one child per family;<br />

15.00 ... two children per family;<br />

20.00 ... three children per family.<br />

This money is used to pay <strong>the</strong> babysitters.<br />

Our Volunteer Instructors receive no re­<br />

muneration.<br />

9. Facilities are limited. Children will<br />

be accepted in order of application, so<br />

LADIES' COMMITTEE NEWS<br />

Those lazy summer days are over for<br />

ano<strong>the</strong>r year, ladies, and your committee<br />

for 1968-69 are in <strong>the</strong> process of putting<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r our program for your fun on <strong>the</strong><br />

slopes.<br />

Details for <strong>the</strong> Babysitting and <strong>the</strong><br />

Mini-Midget Classes can be found in ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />

section of this <strong>bulletin</strong>. Please read<br />

<strong>the</strong>m carefully and avoid unnecessary calls<br />

to <strong>the</strong> conveners.<br />

Our program this year will follow <strong>the</strong><br />

same pattern as previous years- Laurentian<br />

Trip, Slalom Classes, Ladies' Day<br />

Luncheon and Race in March, and we will<br />

do our best to increase <strong>the</strong> number of<br />

Cross Country outings this season.<br />

and yourself - by mailing your application<br />

card properly filled out along with your<br />

cheque to <strong>the</strong> Ottawa Ski Club. We will<br />

speed your membership badges and/ or lift<br />

pass receipts back to you by return mail.<br />
