complexes. The atopic form usually begins in childhood<br />

and is preceded by other atopic manifestations such as<br />

paroxysmal rhinitis, seasonal hay fever, or infantile eczema.<br />

A familial history is usually obtainable. Other environmental<br />

agents may sometimes be recognized in the nonatopic<br />

form. Patients with extrinsic asthma respond favorably to<br />

bronchodilators.<br />
