Progress with Debate Topics – James Bradshaw
James has emailed Birmingham Debating Society however they are now officially on holiday until
September.
Current plan is to run our own debate based on a topic of our choosing. Current topics could include
“Should the title ‘Engineer’, be protected?”
Could panel members please think of ideas for debate topics and send to James B by next meeting
Protosystems Lecture – James Bradshaw
Currently no change to this event.
Summer Trip Progress (Toulouse) – VL
Currently no change to this event.
Midlands AMG Feedback – Nick Sloane
Current drive from the AGM is to focus more on recruitment and also trying to get active members of
the IMechE more involved in events.

Mike Todman Lecture on Renewable Tidal Energy Devices – Andrew Crome
Please note that this event has been moved from the 5 th May to the 2 nd of June 2010.
Currently posters are on the internet and also have been hung up around Wolverhampton university
campus.
Sports Varsity – Kevin Heaton
No Current progress for this event in terms of arrangements.
Paintballing Social – Nick Sloane
A date has been set for the end of October to coincide with new graduates starting at local companies
and also new students starting at the university.
Date is currently the weekend of the 30 th/31 st October 2010.
Event to be run as a recruitment event.
Dodgeball with Birmingham YMP – Andrew Crome
Currently no change to this event however, the panel is still interested in attending.
Lecture Trevor Baylis – Vicky Lampitt
Currently no details have been sorted for this event.
Lecture Flybird- James Holding
An email has been sent, however, there has been no response regarding this.
Summer Trip – Thames Barrier – Greg Davies/James Bradshaw
The trip is currently set for the end of September and is now being organised.

Any ideas for a new banner should be sent to Andrew Crome as we are looking into updating our
current one.
IMechE Site Feedback – ALL
Current feedback from university students is that it could be easier to apply, i.e. an online application
rather than post.
Could everyone please write down 1 thing you like and 2 things you do not like about the site and
send to Andrew Crome.
Technical Visit to Molson Coors – Andrew Crome
They have approached us in regards to giving a technical tour in the summer for 50+ people.
Agreed that this would be a good event and will register our interest.
