How to Pick Your TIJ Technology Family
The printing components described below are designed to enable printing system
development around two HP thermal inkjet technology families – TIJ1.0 and TIJ2.5.
The TIJ technology attributes described below will help guide your choice of
“which TIJ?” that will best suit your needs.

TIJ1.0

• Small variations from horizontal acceptable
• Some limited barcode and graphic printing capabilities, where

Additional Notes:
HP strongly recommends the use of un-sized papers like TMP or 100% recycled
to optimize PQ and dry time. (TMP = Thermal mechanical pulp)
Suggested drivers: Power FETS: many types, many sources; ULN2000 series
Darlington arrays from Sprague and Motorola; UDN5816A decoder/driver
from Sprague.

• Horizontal to vertically down capabilities for firing orientation
• Drop throw distance recommended at 1.0 to 1.5mm
• Dye based inks providing excellent de-cap performance in
intermittent printing applications
• HP original hardware components available for OEM system
integrators to service & maintain inks.
• High speed printing, with fast drying inks on wide variety of media.
• No special handling , extraction or storage requirements for HP inks.
• Accurate ink usage enabled via simple drop counting algorithms
• Prolonged printing capabilities with limited servicing requirements:
• Intermittent nozzle plate wiping recommended
Print speed 300dpi at 1.m/s (200ft/min) @ 12KHz
