Positively Architecture
Jochen Gerz
Cultural Cities? “From art house to our house”
Are current development processes within our
cities responding to and reflecting the hopes,
dreams, fears and needs of their citizens?
What is the role of the arts in development
processes within a global market economy?
This presentation and discussion will question
the role of the arts in informing or even
defining the processes of regeneration, giving
voice to those who would not normally have
a platform for expression.
Positively Architecture is a joint initiative
between the architecture courses at University
of Ulster and Queen's University Belfast that
seeks to stimulate public discussion about
the role and value of architecture in Northern
Ireland. The fourth and final presentation will
be by international artist Jochen Gerz.
Gerz has built an international reputation for
his artworks in public spaces, questioning not
only the role of the artist or art, but also the
historical role of the public in art.
Admission: Free
Information: Cultural Development Office
at the Belfast campus on (028) 9026 7286
