Dato’ Michael Lim was appointed to the PROTON Board on
15 September 2006 and is a Member of the Board Executive
Committee, Board Audit Committee and Board Nomination
& Remuneration Committee. Dato’ Lim also sits on the
Boards of various companies within the PROTON Group.
After graduating with an honours degree in Engineering
from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, Dato’
Lim began his career with the UMW Group in 1975 in
various senior managerial positions. In 1986 Dato’ Lim was
appointed the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer
of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company
between UMW and Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan.
Dato’ Lim retired in 2004.
Currently, Dato’ Lim is the Chairman of Furniweb Industrial
Products Bhd, an export oriented manufacturing company
with plants in Malaysia and Vietnam.
Dato’ Lim has attended 8 out of 9 Board Meetings
held during the Financial Year. He has no conflict of interest
with the Company and has no family relationships with any
other director and/or major shareholders of the Company.
He has had no conviction for any offences within the past
ten (10) years.
