8 October 2005 l RMR Porsche<br />

Past President<br />

Jim Everson<br />

I agreed to become a Board member <strong>in</strong><br />

2000 because I consider it an honor and<br />

because I know how much hard work goes<br />

<strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> events I enjoyed <strong>in</strong> my first few<br />

years <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Club and cont<strong>in</strong>ue to enjoy. I<br />

have served as Second Vice President, First<br />

Vice President and President and have<br />

enjoyed be<strong>in</strong>g Immedi<strong>at</strong>e Past President <strong>in</strong><br />

2005. Instruct<strong>in</strong>g and serv<strong>in</strong>g as an officer<br />

are my way of say<strong>in</strong>g thank you to those<br />

members who work so hard for my enjoy-<br />

ment.<br />

As Immedi<strong>at</strong>e Past President I cont<strong>in</strong>ue to<br />

<strong>at</strong>tend monthly Board Meet<strong>in</strong>gs to provide<br />

wh<strong>at</strong>ever history and advice <strong>the</strong> Board<br />

members need or I can’t help provid<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The sl<strong>at</strong>e of candid<strong>at</strong>es for 2006 is excel-<br />

lent and provides talent, dedic<strong>at</strong>ion and<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>uity. I look forward to work<strong>in</strong>g with<br />

<strong>the</strong> 2006 Board,<br />

President<br />

Andy Forberg<br />

I thought I would ask to stay on as your<br />

President for 2006 for a couple of reasons.<br />

First, I’ve met lots of new members <strong>in</strong> my<br />

position <strong>at</strong>tend<strong>in</strong>g events and go<strong>in</strong>g to<br />

meet<strong>in</strong>gs, and I’ve had <strong>the</strong> chance to work<br />

on cre<strong>at</strong>ive and fun new events for <strong>the</strong><br />

2005 season. Also, I th<strong>in</strong>k we’ve had even<br />

more particip<strong>at</strong>ion from <strong>the</strong> grow<strong>in</strong>g mem-<br />

bership base this year. So, I would like to<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>ue to get to know <strong>the</strong> members and<br />

help volunteers share <strong>the</strong>ir ideas and enthu-<br />

siasm for our Porsches through a variety of<br />

events next year.<br />

Second, now th<strong>at</strong> I have a year of work<strong>in</strong>g<br />

for <strong>the</strong> club <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> President’s position, I’d<br />

like to cont<strong>in</strong>ue with <strong>the</strong> board to improve<br />

<strong>the</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>istr<strong>at</strong>ion and organiz<strong>at</strong>ion so it is<br />

easier and more efficient to deliver <strong>the</strong><br />

gre<strong>at</strong> RMR experiences on and off <strong>the</strong><br />

track we have enjoyed toge<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

F<strong>in</strong>ally, I am excited by <strong>the</strong> activities<br />

planned for next year, and look forward to<br />

help<strong>in</strong>g make <strong>the</strong> events happen for us all.<br />

2006 promises to be <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g for RMR<br />

with <strong>the</strong> prospect of a new Denver track<br />

be<strong>in</strong>g developed, RMR travel<strong>in</strong>g to o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

regions for a few events, and start<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

plann<strong>in</strong>g for host<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> 2009 Porsche<br />

Parade. We’ll cont<strong>in</strong>ue to br<strong>in</strong>g new and<br />

excit<strong>in</strong>g changes to <strong>the</strong> Web site and <strong>the</strong><br />

newsletter. Of course, new chair people<br />

will be fill<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> season with tours, rallys,<br />

autocrosses, DE's, social meet<strong>in</strong>gs, and<br />

Beer 30's, and it always fun for me to<br />

<strong>at</strong>tend successful events and see <strong>the</strong> happy<br />

smiles on <strong>the</strong> event chairs’ and volunteers’<br />

faces, even if <strong>the</strong>y are tired. Help<strong>in</strong>g hand<br />

down <strong>the</strong> traditions and know how of RMR<br />

is important, especially if I want to enjoy<br />

<strong>the</strong> next ten years as much as I have <strong>the</strong><br />

last ten. Thanks for your support and <strong>the</strong><br />

opportunity to be a part of RMR.<br />

First Vice President<br />

Susan Bucknam<br />

I'd wanted a Porsche ever s<strong>in</strong>ce high school<br />

when a friend had a new 356 named<br />

2006 RMR BOARD BOARD<br />

OF D<br />

Ferd<strong>in</strong>and and he would let me drive 'him'<br />

up and down Boulder canyon on occasion.<br />

Oh wh<strong>at</strong> fun! Oh wh<strong>at</strong> a car! F<strong>in</strong>ally, <strong>in</strong><br />

1992 Dave and I bought our first 911, a<br />

1971 'T' named "PORTIA," and began to<br />

<strong>at</strong>tend <strong>the</strong> regional Drivers' Educ<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

events, autocrosses and rallyes.<br />

S<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong>n we have extended our Porsche<br />

family with a 1964 356C and my daily<br />

driver, a 1989 944S2. We drive <strong>the</strong> cars <strong>at</strong><br />

local events - <strong>the</strong> 356 and 944 vie for<br />

<strong>at</strong>tention on Rallyes and on Tours, and<br />

Portia is set up well for <strong>the</strong> track and<br />

autocross events.<br />

I've been <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> organiz<strong>in</strong>g a number<br />

of events from rallyes to autocrosses, tours<br />

to DEs. I enjoy work<strong>in</strong>g with o<strong>the</strong>rs <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

club and pass<strong>in</strong>g along <strong>the</strong> 'how tos'. In<br />

2000, Dave and I were honored with <strong>the</strong><br />

Misura Trophy as "Enthusiast of <strong>the</strong> Year".<br />

I look forward to <strong>the</strong> opportunity to cont<strong>in</strong>-<br />

ue serv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> organiz<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> capacity<br />

of First Vice President.<br />

I have been a German car fan<strong>at</strong>ic s<strong>in</strong>ce my<br />

teens. With a need for wheels and a decid-<br />

edly teenage budget, I bought two smashed<br />

beetles from a local junkyard. N<strong>in</strong>e<br />

months l<strong>at</strong>er, I had comb<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> good<br />

front end of donor VW #1 with <strong>the</strong> back<br />

end and mechanics of donor VW #2 to cre-<br />

<strong>at</strong>e Frankenbeetle! Frankenbeetle lost a<br />

b<strong>at</strong>tle with fire on US 36 and I spent many<br />

years driv<strong>in</strong>g Vegas, Pacers, Buicks and<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r unmentionables. I have longed to
