You can say so<br />

long this month by <strong>at</strong>tend<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Driver<br />

Educ<strong>at</strong>ion weekend scheduled for October<br />

22-23. I especially <strong>in</strong>vite new members, or<br />

never-been-on-a-track drivers to come out<br />

for a day <strong>at</strong> 2nd Creek. Plenty of RMR cer-<br />

tified <strong>in</strong>structors are available to make your<br />

experience safe, <strong>in</strong>form<strong>at</strong>ive and fun. See<br />

<strong>the</strong> article <strong>in</strong> this newsletter for details, or go<br />

on <strong>the</strong> web to f<strong>in</strong>d out more about driv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

events with RMR.<br />

Even if you are not up for some track time,<br />

RMR members and family are <strong>in</strong>vited to<br />

drive <strong>the</strong>ir Porsches out to 2nd Creek to<br />

w<strong>at</strong>ch <strong>the</strong> event from <strong>the</strong> grandstands, check<br />

out <strong>the</strong> race cars <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> pits, and get to know<br />

wh<strong>at</strong> a DE is all about. Of course, you are<br />

<strong>in</strong>vited to jo<strong>in</strong> everyone for snacks and bev-<br />

erages after <strong>the</strong> driv<strong>in</strong>g is done <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> tradi-<br />

tional Beer-30. I’ll bet your visit will k<strong>in</strong>dle<br />

an <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> com<strong>in</strong>g back to a track <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

future.<br />

Speak<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>the</strong> future, <strong>the</strong> future for a 2nd<br />

Creek replacement track looks brighter.<br />

RMR and 4 o<strong>the</strong>r car clubs have spent <strong>the</strong><br />

last several years plann<strong>in</strong>g and work<strong>in</strong>g very<br />

hard for a new track <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Denver Metro<br />

area. We’ve identified and optioned a gre<strong>at</strong><br />

parcel of land, and we are <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> zon<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

approval process now. We’ve also signed an<br />

agreement with Sutton Motorsports who<br />

will acquire <strong>the</strong> land and develop a first<br />

class track facility for am<strong>at</strong>eur motorsports.<br />

The various car clubs will be rent<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

track for weekend events when construction<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ishes. The pieces are almost place, and<br />

I’m optimistic we will have 3rd Creek<br />

Raceway (OK, it will probably be called<br />

Sutton Raceway) for <strong>the</strong> 2007 season.<br />

So with 2nd Creek <strong>in</strong> our mirrors, I th<strong>in</strong>k we<br />

can look up <strong>the</strong> road ahead to new turns,<br />

straights, bends and dips <strong>at</strong> a new track.<br />

RMR, our Porsches and our friends will be<br />

<strong>the</strong>re. Indeed, <strong>the</strong>se are <strong>the</strong> good old days.<br />
