4.7.2 The <strong>Africa</strong> Liberal Network<br />
The <strong>Africa</strong> Liberal International, also called the <strong>Africa</strong> Liberal Network, is an<br />
association of parties, groups, cooperat<strong>in</strong>g organizations and <strong>in</strong>dividuals that support<br />
and accept the liberal pr<strong>in</strong>ciples. Its aims are to foster the growth of a democratic<br />
society based on personal liberty, personal responsibility and social justice, and<br />
to provide the means of cooperation and <strong>in</strong>terchange of <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation between the<br />
member organizations, and between men and women of all countries who accept<br />
these pr<strong>in</strong>ciples.<br />
There are 11 <strong>Africa</strong>n political party members of Liberal International (also called<br />
the International Federation of Liberal <strong>Parties</strong>)—eight full members and three<br />
with observer status. As full members, the <strong>Africa</strong>n liberal parties participate <strong>in</strong> the<br />
deliberations of Liberal International <strong>in</strong> order to develop strategies globally.<br />
<strong>Africa</strong>n liberals established a vibrant w<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>n young people, called the<br />
Organization of <strong>Africa</strong>n Youth (OALY), at the 156th Executive Committee meet<strong>in</strong>g<br />
