Political Parties in Africa: Challenges for Sustained Multiparty Democracy IDEA and research partners have carried out research and interviews with political parties in 19 countries, altogether covering 71 major political parties (see Table 1.1). In 11 countries, research was only done on the national context and the national legislation and regulations of political parties; no interviews with political parties where conducted in these cases. This is indicated in the table below by ‘National regulations only’.
