Class ‘06
of 2006
Dear Classmates,
It’s hard to believe that almost three years have passed since Commencement
2006. Much has happened between then and now for us as individuals
and for the College. As far as the Class of 2006 is concerned, the Executive
Committee is committed to keeping us connected to each other and to the
College. Our Class’s mini-reunion chairs have planned events in Hanover,
Boston, New York, Washington, and San Francisco. They were honored this
past September at Class Officers’ Weekend with a special mention in recognition
of the overall strength of our mini-reunion program. Furthering our
efforts to keep in better touch, we are currently in the process of reviving
our class newsletter, “The ’06 Pack”. This issue is just the first move in that
direction. If you are interested in being a part of the newly forming Newsletter
Committee, please see the notice later in this issue. We also stay in touch
through Class Notes in the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, compiled every
other month by our class secretary Heidi Immesberger (heidiimmes@gmail.
com). The newsletter, mini-reunions, and your subscription to the Dartmouth
Alumni Magazine are all facilitated by your Class Dues. At this point, your
dues provide the monetary means for all of our Class activities and projects.
Please look for a letter from treasurer Mikee Guzman later in this issue
for instructions regarding dues. The time has also come to select our next
Alumni Council representative. If you are intersted in learning more about
this opportunity, please see the announcement inside the newsletter.
Since graduation, we have had some changes within the Executive Committee.
When we graduated, Anthony Bramante was our president. He stepped
down due to work commitments at the end of 2007. Many thanks to Anthony
for his hard work for our Class! I would like to introduce Ben Waters as our
Class’s new vice president. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas,
please let us know. I look forward to hearing from those of you who are
interested in taking a role in Class affairs.
Take care,
The
Pack
Hello to all!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful winter and that you find yourselves happy and healthy. It
was so great to see so many of you come back to Hanover over Homecoming! The excitement of
reconnecting with so many of my classmates again is why I am writing to you today.
Staying in touch with Dartmouth and with all of the amazing people we each met over our years
there is something that I know we all wish we could do more frequently. The easiest way to do that
is to pay your Class Dues. Class Dues are $35 through April 15, and then through the end of the
fiscal year (ending June 30) Class Dues will be $40. While that may seem like a significant amount,
it helps the class stay connected (and only covers our minimum costs). Subscriptions to the Dartmouth
Alumni Magazine alone account for more than half of that contribution. Money given in the
form of Class Dues goes directly to the Class of 2006 and covers our class activities and projects.
In addition to receiving a subscription to the Alumni Magazine and our Class Newsletter, “The ‘06
Pack”, dues will help provide for mini-reunions and cover other miscellaneous costs, such as bank
fees and mailing costs. There is no doubt that paying your Class Dues will directly benefit you as
a member of the ‘06 class. While in the next year we can anticipate an easier way to pay dues (via
a new online system the College is creating), right now the best way to pay dues is to reply to your
dues letters with a check or credit card information and mail it back to us. If you lost your dues letter,
another will be coming this spring, or if you can’t wait tocontribute to your Class and want to
do it now, please mail a check to:
Class of 2006 Dues
Checks can be made out to Dartmouth Class of 2006, and you should write your name on the memo
line, so it is clear who the check is coming from. You can also pay your dues at any mini-reunion
you attend. Thank you so much for your contribution, and I hope to see many of you in the near
future.
Best wishes,
Mikee Guzmán
On November 8th, the New York City Dartmouth crew had a mini-reunion at
Arlene’s Grocery on the Lower East Side prior to a performance by Midnight
Spin. Midnight Spin features two ‘06s, Danny Scull (on drums) and Ben Waters
(on bass). The band put on a great show, and about forty ‘06s were in
attendance. Check out their website at www.midnightspin.com.
WANTED!
Are you interested in helping keep your class more connected?
Have a knack for putting together witty and enlightening articles and publications?
Then we want YOU to sign up for the Newsletter Committee!
After brainstorming the best way to revive the ‘06 Pack, we determined the best way to get this
publication thriving and producing approximately three newsletters a year would be a cracker
jack committee of creative classmates with an interest in journalism, layout, and art! We are
looking for approximately 4 all-star 06s to kick this into high gear. You will have the full
support of the Executive Committee officers as well as Alumni Relations to get things going
and sustain the effort. Please email Edy Wilson at edythe.wilson@gmail.com as soon as
possible to let her know you are interested. Since we are building this from the ground up, it
will be a great opportunity to help create a newsletter framework.
Alumni Council Representative
Solicitation of Interest
Hi all! The time has come for us to elect our Class’s next Alumni Council Representative, to serve
for the 2009-2012 term. Many thanks to Libby Hadzima who has represented our class since we
graduated! The new representative’s term will begin on July 1. The Alumni Councilor represents
alumni by bringing the ideas and concerns of alumni to the attention of the Council and the
College, reporting back to alumni on these matters and any other affairs of alumni interest, and
particularly acting on behalf of our class.
Please note that our representative should attend two meetings (Thursday - Saturday) each year in
Hanover (early December and mid-May) during the next three years. It is very important that the
councilor make time for these visits in order to represent our Class in decision making processes
and elections. Please do keep this in mind as you consider the position. Also, councilors are
responsible for their travel to and from Hanover. The Alumni Relations office provides them with
overnight accommodations for Thursday and Friday nights, as well as most meals while they are
in Hanover for the meeting.
If you are intersted in running for this position, please send your self-nomination to Edy Wilson at
edythe.wilson@gmail.com along with a brief (5-7 sentences) paragraph outlining your qualifications,
interest, and motivation for running before Friday, February 20th. The Executive Committee
will vote on the matter by March 1. Thank you for your interest! If you have any questions,
please ask Edy or Libby.
