Dear Members of AIMS,
16 th World Congress of AIMS
Invitation
4 December 2006
The 16 th World Congress of AIMS will be held in Xiamen, China from 28-30 March 2007. Xiamen
is a famous scenic tourist city in China and is regarded as “A Garden on the Sea”. It won many
national and international honorary titles such as “the International Garden City”. We are honored to
invite you to attend the Congress. Meanwhile we warmly welcome you to observe the Xiamen
International Marathon to be held on 31 March 2007.
To celebrate the 25 th anniversary of the founding of AIMS further expand its influence and make the
Congress better we have decided, after discussion with AIMS President Hiroaki Chosa and AIMS
Secretary Hugh Jones, to have the following activities. We hope you can support us.
i.) There will be an exhibition of marathon photographs of all members, which showcases the magic
of each event and the city where the event is held. Please email us photographs of your marathon so
that we can select some and set up the exhibition.
ii.) We will make a sculpture commemorating the 25 th anniversary of the founding of AIMS, which
will be placed in Xiamen. On the sculpture will be the date when your marathon is held and symbols
such as your logo, badge or flag. We will invite you to attend the unveiling ceremony of the
sculpture. Please email us pictures of the above-mentioned.
iii.) We hope you can send 2-3 marathon runners or enthusiasts representing your event to join
Xiamen International Marathon. The participants should bear traveling expenses and we will bear
the accommodation cost.
To make preparation better, please reply and email us the materials required before 20 December.
We really hope you can come to Xiamen to attend World Congress, celebrating the 25 th anniversary
of the founding of AIMS together with us, sharing experiences and promoting mutual understanding
