Technology at the I-Center HARDWARE & SOFTWARE With a greatly reduced budget, we have not been able to buy much new equipment. However, we did manage the following: Four new desktop computers were purchased for staff to replace old (and out-of-warranty) computers. NETWORK & WEB We continued to create and use a number of formbuilder forms for various applications including sign ups for various events. This web-based form creator allows us to create and manage forms/data with little technical skill and has been used to track/compile non-sensitive data such as sign-ups for events, room reservations and the Achilles fund applications. The Overseas Resource Center used formbuilder to compile mailing lists and to gather information from students. All scholar databases were moved from our in-house server to VPSA’s fi le sharing Xythos server . OBjECTIVES MET THIS YEAR The workfl ow process in Peoplesoft was expanded to include the processing of H-1B and other employment based visa types. This also necessitated the creation of a portal which could be used by non-Stanford people to enter their biographic, educational and immigration history which would then feed into the workfl ow application. After initial problems, the system has been used by many departments to enter, track and approve the process for prospective and current employment based visas. The Bechtel International Center website continued to be added to and enhanced with new information and changing regulations. OBjECTIVES FOR THE COMING YEAR Create new fi lemaker databases to store and track information for Permanent Residency applications. Begin planning process for use of Drupal for our web site.
