General economic situation : increasing<br />
In <strong>December</strong>, households’ opinion about past general economic situation in France<br />
increased (+4 points), being back to its level of June. After having already increased in<br />
Novembre, <strong>the</strong>ir opinion about future general economic situation kept increasing in<br />
<strong>December</strong>(+2 points). These balances remained however clearly below <strong>the</strong>ir long term<br />
averages.<br />
Future unemployment: expectations increasing anew<br />
After a decline in November (–6 points), households were more numerous in <strong>December</strong><br />
to forecast an increase in unemployment. The balance of opinion bounced (+5 points),<br />
remaining widely above its long-term average.<br />
Inflation’s appreciation: expectations decreasing<br />
Households were slightly more numerous to estimate a slowing inflation : <strong>the</strong><br />
corresponding balance lost 2 points in <strong>December</strong>, down to July’s level. Households’<br />
opinion on future inflation decreased too (-4 points). These two balances remained<br />
above <strong>the</strong>ir long term averages.<br />

Winter sales: <strong>the</strong> success of long haul trip<br />
Specialists and generalists have both increased <strong>the</strong>ir sales on winter trips 2012-2013<br />
especially on long-haul destination. The United States are in <strong>the</strong> 1 st position with an<br />
increase of +13% of number of tourists and +21% of turnover in comparison with 2011.<br />

New 2013 brochure for La Française des<br />
Circuits<br />
For its 20th anniversary, La Française de Circuits<br />
created this new 44 pages brochure only<br />
dedicated to self-drive tours. The brochure feature<br />
more than 60 destinations and 120 self drive tours.<br />
New family trips brochure for Nomade Aventure<br />
Available from <strong>December</strong> 14 th , Nomade Aventure integrated new<br />
destination for family trips in 2013.<br />
“Flight only” sales helped <strong>the</strong> TO in 2012<br />
Between November 1 st and October 31 st , <strong>the</strong> CETO registered<br />
3.033.922 passengers, which represent an increase of 5% in<br />
comparison with <strong>the</strong> sam period last year with <strong>the</strong> same TO’s. United States registered<br />
157.725 passengers (+6,1%).<br />
Growth of activity for <strong>the</strong> travel agencies in November<br />
In comparison with <strong>the</strong> same period last year, <strong>the</strong> activity increased by 8% in number of<br />
passengers and 6% in turnover. Departures during November increased by 2%<br />
especially towards <strong>the</strong> following destinations: United States, Italy, United Kingdom,<br />
Thailand and West Indies.<br />

At <strong>the</strong> occasion of Roch Voisine’s concert in Paris, <strong>the</strong> office of tourism of New-<br />
Brunswick and <strong>the</strong> worldwild Acadien congress invited <strong>the</strong> major French tour operators<br />
Product managers and some journalists to attend <strong>the</strong> event. The worldwild Acadien<br />
congress organize a meeting every 5 years and allocate budget to promote <strong>the</strong><br />
destination of foreign markets.<br />
Australia<br />
The Facebook of <strong>Tourism</strong> Australia reached 4 millions of fans<br />
after <strong>the</strong> operation “end of <strong>the</strong> year” elaborated by <strong>the</strong><br />
office of tourism. They’ve published <strong>the</strong> following banner, to<br />
attest that “don’t worry about <strong>the</strong> world coming to <strong>the</strong> end<br />
today, it is already tomorrow in Australia”<br />

Air Tahiti Nui: A new lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle<br />
Passengers of premiere and business classes will now be allowed to enjoyed <strong>the</strong> confort<br />

The big buzz this winter: In 2013 "Le Jardin des Modes" will<br />
celebrate its grand comeback!<br />
This new magazine is called "Jardin des Modes" in reference to<br />
women's monthly first launched in 1922 by Lucien Vogel, <strong>the</strong><br />
pioneer of <strong>the</strong> illustrated press. Its pages will mix trends in<br />
fashion, art, design, architecture and travel. The new edition of<br />
Jardin des Modes will be in january 2013 under <strong>the</strong> editorship of<br />

RMC Discovery: The new documentary channel TNT<br />
(PROGRAMS)<br />
The documentary genre is now a <strong>the</strong>me absent from <strong>the</strong> TNT.<br />
To overcome this shortcoming, a new channel will be launched<br />
on <strong>December</strong> 12, RMC Discovery! It is innovative and wants<br />
"stronger than fiction" in this area. Launched by <strong>the</strong> group<br />
NextRadioTV, <strong>the</strong> parent company of BFMTV, RMC Discovery<br />
wishes to propose a simple grid and readable. The evenings will be well <strong>the</strong>med. Five<br />
major <strong>the</strong>mes will be offered to viewers, bringing toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> whole family. Almost<br />
80% of <strong>the</strong> programs will be unprecedented in free TV, bought National Geographic,<br />

Expedia: Last-minute mobile hotel bookings spike on New Year's Eve<br />
BELLEVUE - Having witnessed a spike in last-minute mobile hotel bookings during<br />
different national holidays, Expedia.com, <strong>the</strong> world's leading online travel agency,<br />
released <strong>the</strong> results of a study of such behavior. Conducted online by Harris Interactive<br />
among 2,893 online U.S. adults, <strong>the</strong> study examined consumer willingness to use a<br />
mobile device to book a hotel room within 24 hours, and <strong>the</strong> various reasons for doing<br />
so. An analysis of Expedia booking patterns shows that <strong>the</strong> week leading up to New<br />
Year's Eve tends to see a surge in hotel rooms booked via mobile at <strong>the</strong> last minute.<br />
Such bookings are up to 50% higher than similar bookings in November and <strong>the</strong> first<br />
half of <strong>December</strong>. Many last-minute holiday bookings, in fact, are made late at night,<br />
after <strong>the</strong> New Year has been rung. According to <strong>the</strong> Harris Study, among adults with a<br />
history of booking a last-minute room on New Year's Eve, <strong>the</strong> most commonly cited<br />
reason (selected by 50% of <strong>the</strong>se respondents) was necessity; <strong>the</strong>y had consumed one<br />
or two drinks too many and elected to spend <strong>the</strong> night in a hotel. The second-most<br />
cited reason (selected by 35% of <strong>the</strong>se respondents) was personal; <strong>the</strong>y had found love<br />
(or believed <strong>the</strong>y had), and chose to explore those emotions immediately, in a nearby<br />
hotel room.<br />
