Iain MacPhearson, Academic Fellow, School of Languages,
Literatures and Cultures at Ulster, will talk about his work on the
documentary, Bothan air a’ Phrèiridh (Cabin on the Prairies).
The documentary depicts a journey of discovery on an emigrant’s
road to the ‘Far West’ of Canada and back again, portraying
family stories and separations both overseas and at home.

This masterclass will concentrate on surface decoration
techniques; from working with soft clays through to glazed
surfaces. Participants will cover exciting ways of creating pattern
and texture at different stages in the making process, both
before and after firing.
Peter Beard has taken part in over 45 one-person shows around
the world since 1975. In 2002 he won a Silver Medal at XV111
International Biennial of Ceramic Art and in 2000 won the
Pot d’Or at Keramisto, Holland.
