WOODRIDGE EQUESTRIAN CENTRE (WEC) - 2012
Woodridge has excellent equestrian facilities, which include arenas, cross-country track and a lot of space for
out-rides. We cater for beginners, novice and experienced riders in the equestrian disciplines.
GROUP TUITION: Maximum of 4 pupils per lesson
School / private horse: R80.00 per 45 minute lesson
PRIVATE TUITION: School / private horse: R130.00 per 45 minute lesson
For Woodridge pupils who commit to 2 lessons per week, a 10% discount is offered.
STABLING (LIVERY): The horses are fed a balanced ration. They go out every day into large, electronicallyfenced
paddocks with grazing, water and shade. Horses are groomed and cared for
by experienced grooms. The stables are large with shavings for bedding. Horses are
shod every 5-6 weeks, if necessary. The farrier and veterinary bills are not included in
the livery fee. All supplements can be fed by WEC but are to be purchased by the
owner of the horse. Poultices, creams, etc. are to be purchased by the owner of the
horse and clearly labelled. Horses are expected to have their own grooming bag.
Pony: R2 000.00 per month Horse: R2 350.00 per month
Please note: one month’s livery is payable before the end of the previous term to
secure a stable. We reserve the right to increase the livery charges should the actual
costs exceed anticipated costs.
LUNGING: Your horse may be exercised for you by a groom. The cost for lunging your horse is
R80.00 for a 30 minute session.
SCHOOLING OF HORSE: By instructor – once per week: R150.00 per 45 minute session
twice per week: R130.00 per 45 minute session
three to five times per week: R110.00 per 45 minute session
TACK ROOM: Private tack may be stored at one’s own risk. It is recommended that tack is
insured.
SHOWS: Our aim is to hold a training show each term.
AWARDS: There will be an informal awards function at the end of the year. Prizes such as
‘Most improved horse-rider of the year’ will be awarded.
RIDING GEAR: According to SANEF, for safety reasons, pupils must ride in correct headgear (cap with
chinstrap joining at 3 points or skull cap). Riding shoes with heels are also
compulsory. Enquiries regarding obtaining gear may be made with Mrs Mitchley on

Should you wish your child to partake in any of the equestrian activities offered by WEC, please read, complete
and sign the Indemnity Form below.
In order to secure lessons and/or livery, this form should be received by Woodridge before the start of a term.

INDEMNITY FORM – EQUESTRIAN ACTIVITIES
I hereby absolve Woodridge College and Preparatory School, its employees and/or agents from any
responsibility, liability or claims, whatsoever, in connection with any injury sustained by my son/daughter or in
connection with any accident while he/she is engaged in the equestrian programme of the school, theft of tack
and/or injury of horses.
I also agree to give a term’s notice in writing should my child not wish to continue either tuition or livery for
his/her horse(s) as indicated below. Should this notice not be given, I accept that I will be charged for the term.
By signing this document I agree to the terms and conditions of the WEC and for the full payment thereof.
