Introduction
Welcome to Module III of the Radiation Oncologist Training. This book is your
guide to unlocking the possibilities of MOSAIQ v1.20 application software, hereafter
referred to as MOSAIQ. It is designed to be used during your instructor-led training,
and as a handy desk reference any time you need a quick reminder how to do
something in MOSAIQ. We recommend that you keep this book near your
workstation so you can find it easily when needed.
This training guide is not intended to replace the MOSAIQ documentation, which is
contained in the MOSAIQ Help system. The MOSAIQ Help system provides indepth
information on all available MOSAIQ features.
Radiation Oncologist Training is an Intermediate course that covers how to use checklists,
documents, and reports in MOSAIQ. This course assumes that you have basic
Windows skills and have taken, and are familiar with, the concepts presented in
MOSAIQ General Introduction Training. Topics presented in this course build upon the
concepts learned in the General Introduction.
In the first module, you learned how to use the MOSAIQ user interface, view the
scheduling and code-capturing system, view patient information, and enter diagnosis
information. In the second module, you learned how to enter course/Care Plan
information, add order sets, and work with radiation prescriptions, as well as work
with labs, vitals, and assessments. In addition, you generated and viewed orders.
What’s In This Module
In this module, you will work with Quality check items and documents. In addition,
you will view the Report Navigator and print reports from the Report Navigator and
the Diagnoses and Interventions window.
This module will not teach you basics on using MOSAIQ, which are covered in the
General Introduction.
Note that when you are working in the practice database, all activities are enabled for
the practice ID. In your clinical database, you may or may not have security rights to
do all the activities that you will do in this module.

Lesson 9 Using Quality
Checklists
Objectives
You will learn how to:
• View Quality Checklist items
• Add Quality Checklist items
• Complete Quality Checklist items
Refer to Quality Checklist Tutorial (LTG14001) for information on
configuring the Quality Checklists and Quality Checklist Items.
Quality Checklists are designed to help you track adherence to any type of procedure,
including established clinical pathways, clinical trials, or any other type of quality
assurance protocols used at your facility. You can track almost any activity at your
facility for which you want to create accountability.
Procedures such as simulations, follow-up protocols, or pre-treatment tasks, can all be
tracked using Quality Checklists, then monitored on-line or in printed reports. Quality
Checklists are especially useful to remind staff members which critical tasks must be
accomplished, and when they must be completed. Quality Checklists are also useful
for procedures that must have some type of verification recording that they were
completed on time.
In this lesson, you will work with quality checklist items. You will view, add, and
complete quality checklist items.
To select an existing patient, you must have Administrative |
General | View rights. To admit a new patient, you must have
Administrative | New Patient | Modify rights.
To view the Quality Checklists, you must have Quality Checklist |
View rights.
All subsequent actions, such as adding an item, require Quality
Checklist | Modify rights.
To capture codes, you must have the following General Security
rights: Administrative | Charge Capture | Modify rights.

Notes
Adding Quality Checklist Items
A quality checklist item may or may not be billable. A billable item generates a charge
code when completed; non-billable items do not. You create and assign billable items
the same way as non-billable items, except that you specify a code group or specific
charge code to be charged to the patient for billable items. In the following exercises,
you will add a non-billable item to the patient’s Quality Checklist with a note, as well
add billable items with a charge code and a charge group.
Adding a Non-Billable Item to the Patient’s Quality Checklist
In this exercise, you will add a non-billable item to the patient’s Quality Checklist and
include a note.
Radiation Oncologist Training Guide
Notes The Requesting field enables you to indicate who (staff) or what (location) wants
this procedure performed. For example, the attending physician for a patient may
request a procedure, so you would select that staff member, such as Beverly
Crusher. Or a department may have certain requirements, but no one specific
person is requesting it. In that instance, you would select the location, such as
Registration.
5. Double-click Healey, Roger.
You can also click the staff member/location, then click
similar to the ones shown in Figure 29.
Figure 29: Partially Completed Non-Billable Item
6. Click next to the Responsible field, then double-click CLAMPET, JED.
The Responsible staff or location is the person, department, or group that actually
performs the procedure.
While you do not have to select a Responsible staff member (or
location), we strongly recommend that you do so. If you do not,
you have no way of knowing who is responsible when you view
items from any Quality Checklist window, the staff members who
should perform the procedures may not know they are
responsible, and those staff members cannot resolve the items
from the Staff Quality Checklist window.
For this exercise, skip the Billable checkbox.
Lesson 10 Using
Documents
Objectives
You will learn how to:
• Viewing documents
• Editing documents
• Statusing documents
MOSAIQ has three documentation needs: PhAST Note, eSCRIBE, and eSCAN.
• eSCRIBE is an on-line transcription system that enables you to create or
import patient documents. The resulting documents are available from
eCHART, the MOSAIQ electronic charting system. You can also use
eSCRIBE and MOSAIQ to manage your paper documents electronically.
• eSCAN enables you to import PDF and other file types, such as GIFs and
JPEGs. Typical documents include pathology reports and treatment plans.
• PhAST Note (Physician Assisted Structured Template Note) enables you to
develop a structured patient encounter note. You can select individual items
as you assess a patient. When finished, MOSAIQ generates a narrative based
on your selected findings. In addition, MOSAIQ suggests E & M code(s)
based upon the document content. Note that you must purchase PhAST
Note separately.
In this lesson, you will work with eSCRIBE, eSCAN, and PhAST Note documents.
You will view, edit, and approve documents.
To run eSCRIBE, you must have Administrative | Import/Export |
View rights. To import an eSCRIBE document, you must also have
Modify rights.
To view the Documents window and any documents, you must
have Clinical | Documents | View rights. For pending or unfinished
documents, you must also have Clinical | View Pending Docs |
View rights.
To change eSCRIBE or PhAST Note documents, you must have
Clinical | Documents | Modify rights.
To approve a document, you must have Clinical | Documents |
Admin rights. To co-sign a document, you must also have Clinical
Co-Sign Docs | Admin rights.
